E71 seats in F16?

It's been a month. For now I'm keeping it. I seriously considered getting back in the ///M - they still have it. I figured it was the safe way to go and it would buy me time to decide on what was next. Leasing it for a year wasn't an option and I wasn't going to buy it. They were going to work with me to get out of the current lease but I didn't want to jump into something else I really didn't want just to get out of this lease.

Although I don't love it, I guess I don't hate it. I'm still trying to figure what I can do about the seats. I asked whether E71 seats could be installed but I can't get a straight answer. Instead I was told there could be airbag issues and electronic issues so from a safety standpoint, no. It sounds like speculation and a safe answer. Can anyone tell me if this is possible? I also asked them to let me know if they have any 2016 ///Ms coming in so I can check them out. They have 18 way M sport seats. Maybe, just maybe those will work. I know a guy on another board who is going from a 2013 ///M to a 2016 ///M and I am anxiously awaiting his feedback on the seats.

So the saga continues.

Unfortunately the electronic systems between the F chassis and E chassis are very different - the seats won't integrate properly :(

Dumb question, but did you try the basic seats to see if they were any better? They would be the same in the X5 or X6, so perhaps they have a model with the base seats on the lot to try out? Those would be swappable.

I am sure the M models will have fancy seats, but didn't you avoid the M because of the ventilated option?

EDIT: I wanted to add that most likely the cameras can be 'coded' off, as I am sure the Lane Departure can too. Jeff (UCrew) has a contact that can help you. You just need to order a cable, and then the coder can take it from there (He will remote into a laptop you have the cable plugged into, you will then plug it into the car, and he will do everything remotely while you are on the phone with him).

Chris,

Thanks for the info. Too bad the E71 seats won't work. That would have been an ideal fix. The multi contour seats are standard equipment. The ventilated seats in the M were part of a package that I wanted but they wouldn't delete the seats from the package. I could get M seats that aren't ventilated, just need to find one coming in so I could check them out.

Got it - just a reminder, these seats are mucho dinero - this has to be a long-term keeper, IMHO, if you order new seats.

I know, although I don't know how many dinero  I'll keep you posted.

I stand corrected. The sports seats are standard, not the multi contour. I will see if I can swing by dealer and check them out.

Cool. The dealer, with BMW's help, could do the swap if you end up liking the sport seats better.

Just finished reading your thread L...

I still love your X6 M, that afternoon ride with Baron was really lots of fun...

Enjoy your new ride, and where are the pics? :)

Hey Jayjay -

What's up? Looks like you guys are loving TX.

To be honest, I haven't taken any pics. I guess that says a lot. I'm not loving it. I have truly enjoyed every mile in my past 5 BMWs but not this one... It's just a car. Initially the seats and the mirrors were my big gripes but it's more than that. Next generations should improve, not in this case. The only improvement is the transmission but the handling, ride and just about everything else took a step backwards. I stopped posting about it because I sound so negative. I don't even look back at it after parking it. You know what I mean. After you find that perfect spot and you begin your trek across the parking lot, you look back to take in the beauty and smile, looking forward to the drive home.

I spoke to the dealer about getting out of the lease but then what? Nothing else in the lineup thrills me so why "settle". I considered getting back into the ///M as a bridge car until I found something else but I would have to buy it. I initially decided against that but it's still on the lot. I don't think it makes financial sense. Who knows what it will be worth come trade in time. It only has 33,000 miles and I know the history but now is the time things start to go wrong.

I looked at the MB GLE 63 AMG Coupe a few weeks ago. I haven't driven it yet. If I go that route, I'll probably take a beating as I would not ask BMW to do something to minimize my out of pocket to break my current lease so I could go to another brand. I looked at swap lease but who would want to assume a lease on a 2016 model?

For the time being, it is what it is. I ordered my winter wheels and snow tires but I don't think I will make it the three years.

You're right, we love it here in Texas!!!

I know what you mean with that looking back thing at the parking lot, I still do that to my '05 330i ZHP and my '10 35d, true love with our cars i guess :rofl:

You have every right to say how you feel about your current ride, you're the one paying for it and you should be enjoying every minute on it. Its a BMW so we expect a lot, but at the end of the day, its still just a car...

Here a :beerchug: and im hoping you begin to somehow get accustomed with your current ride... Miss you guys!

Well, I did it. After a test drive at a local dealer I bit the bullet and traded in the 50i for the ///M yesterday. Black on black, only thing it doesn't have I would have ordered is the B&O stereo.

So now the question is my winter set up. I bought 19" 623M wheels for the 50i. I was assuming that the M indication on the wheels mean they will fit but now after reading on some other forums everyone is running 20s I'm stressing. I'm supposed to take delivery tomorrow and of course the forecast is for a wintry mix tomorrow night after having 60 degree temps for weeks. If I have to get another set so be it but obviously that will take a few days if the wheels are in stock.

I did post in the M section already and on the other forums but no answers yet. Can anyone put my mind at ease? Thanks.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!
