Speculation Thread for WestFest IV

This might be premature but I wanted to keep you guys informed. I have taken on the responsibility of planning the next West Coast event. I guess by default since I planned the last one and this one will be an almost carbon copy of it.

I talked to The Man at Crevier BMW in Santa Ana and he is willing to sponsor as they did last time. That was a big issue to resolve before forging ahead. The kind of meet I want to have cannot be done without the support of a dealer like Crevier BMW. (They are the largest BMW dealer in the country.) Last time, they came up huge for us. Those who were there know. We're hoping to make it even better this time around and this time The Man will be bringing his own Carbon Black 4.4.

No date has been set because I am waiting to hear back from the venue. I do not want to do it anywhere else because anywhere else wouldn't be good enough. The place is worth the wait because it is really incredible and totally private with lots of room for X5's and X3's to park. The date will depend on when I can get in at the venue. If I can get this place, know that it is in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area of California.

Stay tuned for more info. I'll be sure to keep you guys informed.

What's the timeframe we're looking at, Kevin? 3rd QTR? 4th QTR? Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

BTW, Vista BMW in FL and Classic BMW in Dallas bill themselves as the world's largest BMW dealerships also, along with Crevier. I have no idea what criteria is used - revenue? # cars sold? square footage?

The name escapes me right now, but there's a small car museum in Tustin or Santa Ana that hosts parties and the price is reasonable. So does the Peterson Automotive Museum on Wilshire and Fairfax. We had a BMWCCA luncheon and tour there a couple of years back.

Hurry, hurry, hurry. I really need to get out there to see customers and have been putting it off until I know when the meet is. I may need to schedule two trips :D

Crevier sold the most cars of any BMW dealer. There were some BMW stats floating around and Crevier just blew everyone away. Word is that sales are down across the board; not in the toilet, just less than previous years.

I have attended a couple of events at Petersen. It's not a bad place but I don't live close enough to it to want to plan an event there and I try to arrange for hotel discounts and there are tons of hotels in the Palm Springs area. It's a resort destination so people can make it a relaxing getaway as well as an xoutpost.com meet. :D

The time frame I am shooting for is between late August and October. There is a preference for October for a variety of reasons but it starts getting into the high season in Palm Springs and that makes it more challenging to get hotels cheap and even getting the venue. I'm working on it....
