Who is in? Crabshell Shell Stamford CT Saturday June 16th, open menu. BRING CASH PLEASE. I made reservations for 2pm. We can hook up earlier and hang around for a while. Good hotels in that area are expensive. Even after paying $300 per night it feels like staying in an average hotel. After all Greenwich is among most expensive place in the country.

Each of the hotels I listed were $100-$130 per night on hotels.com.

Weekday rates are much higher than weekend, so you may be ok. I had stayed at Hyatt Greenwich few years back and it was $300 someting for the night. Just checked and its showing $259 for Tuesday and I am sure that will come to $300+ out the door with all the taxes, charges, breakfast, tips etc. etc. :D

The Hyatt Regency Greenwich is showing Friday, June 15th's rate as $159.00.

I thought you only lived like an hour away or less. Why are you staying overnight?

Alpine Rasta is driving down and staying the weekend so I'll stay over Saturday night and drive home early Sunday morning.

Is anyone else staying overnight besides myself, Laura and Michelle? If so, we really should decide on a hotel soon. Thus far, the general consensus (between Laura and me :) ) is the Westin. Any objections? They have a no cancellation policy, so if we're doing it, it's an all or nothing deal.

I'll try and be there, but most likely won't stay for the meal. Have work later on in the day.

Their $109 rate has a no cancelation policy, but their $119 rate allows you to cancel up to 4:00pm the day of check-in.

i do like the Marriott there better. But for $109 at the Westin you cant go wrong. Ive stayed at both before.

Is there that much of a difference if you travel a mile further to one of the other hotels Michelle posted? I called the Westin because it's closest to the Crabshell, we're only sleeping there.

I'm heading up after work, but I may scoot out of work early. It's 240 miles away, so hopefully Friday traffic won't kill me! Just trying to get around the Baltimore Beltway will kill me if I leave anytime after 3:00pm. :tsk:

Check out the Courtyard. It is brand new and walkable to a bunch of bars!

I don't land until 10pm on the 15th ( gotta love the 18 hour plane ride), :tsk: I was hoping to be able to drive up Friday evening to have dinner with you guys, but it looks like I'll have to wait until the 16th to see you!

Dont get me wrong. You will be just fine at either hotel. Just that the Marriott is in a little bit better of an Area. Stamford is one of those Cities that one block you are walking by Ferraris and the next you are in a ghetto. If you dont know where you are going at night you can find yourself in a bad area real fast.
But dont worry niether Hotel is in a ghetto. Like I said they are both nice just one is a little bit better than the other. For the same price I would pick the Marriott, if price is different i would just go with the cheaper one.

If you want ghetto, however, i can make some reccomendations :rofl:

In my experience, one can't go wrong with good name hotels, my choice for budget accomidations is generally a off-brand marriott (courtyard, etc... whatever it is in Shelton). Runs $40, free breakfast :nanana: (less than a tank of gas :thumbup: / :thumbdown )
My favorite, of course is the "mooch off your fam/friends" method, certainly call in a few nights from tourist season ;) :thumbup:

I go through NJ - the parkway to 287 over the Tapp to 95. I know it's not the shortest route but I like the drive.

It will be difficult: we need to see about 8 sets of people in 7 days
and nights...always a "rush rush, see them, go to next place" deal
on these trips to NJ/NY&CT. Not complaining, but it wears one out
with all the moving/sleeping in 4 or 5 places in 7 nights. And, of course
DaKidz work, so we go see "others" who don't during weekdays and then try to pack
it all in with the kids on a long weekend. I need to win the lotto and get the kids and
fams done here in some 12,000 sq ft compound.

Bad luck today. Had a blow out and my rim looks to be bent. Hope to have it fixed and a new tire by Sat. If not, I may have to skip the meet. 5.30 and on my way by 6.30-7.00pm. Which should get me to CT by ~9.00-9.30pm.

Thank you all for the wonderful turn out. The weather couldn't have been better. We had a blast. It was great seeing old friends and making new ones. You guys rock. :thumbup: We carried on until the wee hours. I have pains in my stomach and my cheeks from laughing so much. Believe it or not, I didn't take one picture yesterday. I was having too much fun carrying on. I'm sure Michelle has some good ones. :rofl:
