LOL I was actually thinking the same thing myself! Gerry has a power supply for my desktop that he said he can install for me and I was chatting with him about having a mini-meet at the same time!
I could do something on the following dates: June 28th-29th (this coming weekend) July 26th (Saturday only) August 16th-17th September 6th-7th (my birthday is the 8th, so someone has to jump out of my cake!) Obviously the farthest south location of the Tri-State area would work best for me, but I don't mind driving. :driver: |
we can go for a BBQ at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. It overlooks the NYC skyline and statue of liberty..very big place to chill.
|

Can't make these, but would jump out of the cake in spirit ;) |
The further south, the better. Like VA perhaps.
|
I am game! Since, I have been "volunteered" to work on M's computer.
I get her the powersupply (cost me an arm and a leg - actually a case of beer) and now she wants me to install it for her. I don't know when that decision happened:boxer: :dunno: :taz: |
Quote:
Woah woah woah...someone volunteered themselves! I didn't even know that you knew my desktop needed a new powersupply! Just box it up and ship it to me, and I'll Paypal you for it. |
I'm in but I can only do the August dates. Where are we going to do it? A restaurant, the beach, a park...:dunno:
Do you need permits to do Liberty State Park? So Justin, I guess you're planning this one :) |
Quote:
Where's Simone? Dave Matthews Band is in Texas that weekend...she better not be going! |
What about Point Pleasant, NJ - The TIKI BAR? It's going to be hot in August. We could hang at the beach. We won't have a parking lot all to ourselves in the summer though.
|
keep the ideas a coming. Aug sounds good and so does the tiki bar. any places to crash around jersey?
|
Quote:
|
That would be the one. It's on the boardwalk and behind the restaurant is a bar on a pier that looks over the beach. They have live entertainment in the summer. The hotels sometimes pull this BS about 2 night minimums for summer weekends.
If this is the place I suggest anyone wanting to stay over check hotels first. It could get a little pricey. Not sure what's going on down there this year. I know the roads going down the shore have been pretty empty on the weekends. Peeps might not be going down with the high price of fuel. |
Quote:
Ramada Inn - $190 Neptune Days Inn - $169 Empress Hotel - $266 YIKES! |
Back to the drawing board. Let's see what kind of suggestions Justin comes up with.
|
August would work best for me too.
|
sounds like majority prefer august which is perfect for me too since i'll be down florida this july. Pt. Pleasant sounds good, unless you all wanna do some gambling and head down to AC.
|
Quote:
|
Earlier august will work for me. That way, I won't be the red-headed stepchild, and won't have a 3 series full of stuff and a backseat driver :(
|
I'm not an AC fan but that would work. There must be someplace on the boardwalk where could have lunch and carry on. I've only been there a couple of times so I have absolutey ZERO suggestions on where to go.
|
the first weekend in August I'm probably going to drive up to Toronto Canada.. But I won't mind Atlantic City!!!! Aug works for me as well..

August sounds good, but it all depends on when I'm on call. Probably in Toronto the first weekend of August, too. Going to Caribana, RastaFarai? :)
|
there are plenty of places to eat/drink/shop at the boardwalk.. http://www.atlanticcitysbest.com/index.htm and also the pier at caesars. http://www.thepiershopsatcaesars.com/index.html Phillips Seafood is great, and they have big enough of space accomodate a large group. We can all park on the roof parking lot for $5.

PS. Happy early 9K :band: |
How about here:

camping out would be very cool! where could we do it?
|
yes camping would be nice. the great outdoors along with out x's is perfect.
|
I could pull that one off, too... Are there any state parks? Or L's backyard ;) :stickpoke
|
Camping out on the beach would be awesome but the X's will be in the parking lot.
Quote:
|
I found a source for campgrounds around the shore area... we couldn't camp on the beach probably, but close...
http://www.newjerseycampgrounds.com/Default.php |
Keeping an eye on this. Sounds like fun
Pet friendly would be nice too. http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...77/TeeFee1.jpg |
ill be going to israel from july 7 to august 7 so any weekends after that im good for!
|
Camping or AC works...
Edit: Let's go camping! Meiac, don't worry I have a 3 series too... |
CFO said I can go on a camping trip if I "bring a friend"

Quote:
|
wheres a good place to camp? I've worked at a campground near the beach and I have one long word to describe it. :cussing: :thumbdown
How about some SP? Also, a lot of places won't have groups or unmarried people... Or under 21's... |
Quote:
|
Quote:
I honestly don't know, I dealt with the canadians making reservations, and if they weren't a family or "couple" we couldn't let them in, and no "couples" under 25. Its BS, but its how beach camping goes, hence the reccomendation for someone's yard (lol) or a State Park. |
Quote:
|
State camps would be the best. I have two tents and two bottle of Patron!
|
Quote:
But I guess you already told Ger that, the same way you told him I woundn't bungee jump  So M, you bungee jumping with Ger? |
Quote:
|
For you ladies maybe some gents...If we go to this camping trip. Y'all could probably "borrow" my portable generator to plug in your hair dryers...
M said that she will jump if you jump or something like that! I can't remember the conversation, must be this klondike ice cream candy bar that I am eating. Having a brain freeze! Yummmm! Ice cream and patron...that would be a great combo! |
Quote:
|
Quote:
ahemmmm - first dibs on the girls sleeping in my tent! with me! |
Quote:

Yeah right!!!! Not high maintenance my brown $$ (okay slightly white $$$)
Let's find a place to go bungee jumping! I can't find any to jump here in the NE but, lots in Western states! Lots of whitewater rafting here in the NE. |
This reminds me of one of my favorite reality TV quotes of all time:

just in case you guys are really considering to go camping in a state park:
try Spruce Run, http://www.stateparks.com/spruce_run.html been there a couple of times last year and it was awesome... |

My vote is for AC |
I second the vote for AC !!! (plus I never argue with L) I can also teach any noobs on how to play craps, pai-gow, roulette, and the various poker games. My wife can teach you the nickel slots.
Edco & Patty PS. we MIGHT get a nice group rate if we call this a " BMW car club" when we check availability and price and can guarantee a number of rooms. I've seen it done before when I was a Miata-man. And this place isnt "bad" for the price..http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...3000/marac.jpg |

I guess camping next summer and AC this August. Need suggestions on where to go in AC. I just found out yesterday that I have a bachelor party in AC on Aug 23...WOW! I've never been there and now I have it booked for two weekends in a row. I'm definitely camping in the parkinglot for the x5 meet to save a few bucks. Man I love getting drunk and not minding where I sleep. AC IT IS!
|
We could always kill two birds with one stone and have a meet the weekend of the bachelor party ;pervert;

I need suggestions on a nice restaurant on the boardwalk or something. not too pricey.
|
The Inlet is one restaurant bar on the bay. just a suggestion
|
Heres a link to a few waterfront dining spots.

Back Bay Ale House, LLC
|
Where are we staying?
|
check this out for ideas where to stay.- http://www.achotelexperts.com/
I'm probably gonna stay at any Harrah's property depending on the rate they offer. |
hotels are up to everyone to choose anywhere they desire. Lets lock up a restaurant/location and go from there.
|
Ladies/Gents: I have to be 50/50 on this one just like Playerpro. I may be out of the country for work.
|
I asked a few friends of mine for suggestions on where to stay/what to do.
One recommended Caeser's. It's on the boardwalk and there's a "Sandbar" right out side on the beach where we can hang and carry on. Anyone ever go there? I'm not an AC person so I don't know. Just trying to help. |
I thought I mentioned I was out. Will be going through a week later, can't do the extra round trip :damn:
|
I didn't pick the date, just throwing out suggestions to get this going.

I just read through the thread and updated the list in Post 1. |
Quote:
|
Caeser's sounds like a great idea. Let it be known that this will be the spot we go to. Thanks Laura!
Quote:
|
Quote:
EDIT: I just checked rates for Caeser's. Are they kidding  $500+ fookin dollars for a room for a night. Balley's, Showboat and a few others are showing $300+ to $500 also. I'll check Orbit or something. Where's Michelle - she knows how to get cheap rooms |
Ok...I just checked the rates for Caesar's -- $529 is the cheapest. Sorry, guys, but I'd rather have a set of running boards!
|
Quote:
|
I just checked Orbitz and they're showing the same $529 per night. :wtf: I thought AC was cheap rooms to get you to spend on the tables....So much for that idea.
How much were the rooms in Point Pleasant you found Michelle? Maybe we'll go back to the beach? |
Quote:
Fold down the seats of the X5, throw down a couple of blankets, and you've got a free queen bed! :D |
So back to the drawing board. :dunno: Maybe we need to pass on a cool venue because of the time of year and just pick a restaurant where we can hang that has a hotel close by. There are a bunch of fun places in New Brunswick NJ or even a chain on route 1 in central NJ - Woodbridge area. I don't know where else to go that's reasonable for a room. And I KNOW none of us will be driving....
What about down by you Michelle? I'll do a MD run. We could always do the crab shell again. We'll sweat our butts off in August though. It's a thought. |
Quote:
 Caesars Parking lot  |
How about M's yard? She may have a corner away where we could pitch a tent...away from her cows...
|
I agree -- it's too hot in August for Crab Shell.
There has to be some place in Joisey. Where's edco? He's the king of finding deals. |
It would be great if you did it in the fall.
|
How about somewhere further south. Like Virginia. :D
|
Come on peeps
August 16 is going to come and go..and we'll still be trying to come up with a plan.
Here's plan B...or is it C? :dunno: We meet in New Brunswick NJ. There's a Hyatt within walking distance of a bunch of restaurants and clubs. $149 for the night. I didn't check expedia or orbitz to see what they have. Old Bay is a Cajun kind of restaurant with entertainment. There are plenty others. We can meet late afternoon at the hotel, have a drink or two and go for dinner and take it from there. |
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
Richmond is a dandy place though. |
Quote:
That sounds like a plan Laura. Please feel free to adjust the coverpage for this as needed. Your the best! |
Quote:
Is this the plan? Who's in? We need a head count so we can make reservations. |
The wife and I are still in.
|
Is this Aug 16th a firm date...?
|
Quote:
Let's do roll call. Here is the list from the first page. Who is still in?
Yeah, I know, James is a 50/50   |
Alright old bay in new brunswick it is. Better rates than AC for the timeperiod.
|
Hey guys I am still 50/50! "They" are talking about sending me to Italy during that week
|
i cant make it the 16th but if the meet runs into the 17th i can go.
|
I'm at a 50/50 here. Got a few things going on, might work out quite well.
|
Count me in.
|
Post #1 updated with a link to the restaurant and rsvp's.
|
I'm in for the 16th... I have some friends/family that are in new brunswick i can spend the night with them..
|
We're still in
Heck we can walk to New Brunswick from Metuchen so we are still in..
edco & Patty Quote:
|
The Heldrich is available for $119/night. It's the same distance from The Old Bay as the Hyatt.
http://www.hotels.com/etpServlet?lid=1802567 |
maybe i'll do new brunswick since it's not too far of a ride for me...:D
it'll get my butt in gear to get my exhaust tips back on. |
Quote:
|
okok.... how far is this 'new brunswick' from NYC?
|
o oh...
" Centrally located in New Brunswick, NJ (Home of Rutgers University & Johnson & Johnson) the restaurant can be easily reached from most major roads. Parking is suggested at the Church Street parking deck. Well lit hourly parking is also available at the Hyatt Hotel parking deck located directly across the street from The Old Bay. Street parking is also available in designated legal spots. Please do not park illegally, the town is very aggressive in its ticketing and towing policies. For more information please call 732-246-3111." get your popcorn... |

I'll stop by...
Guys,
Could you put me down in the "Interested" category. I missed the last get together in CT and would love to stop by and meet everyone and their rides. Can't do the Dinner part as I have to pickup my MIL from Newark Airport and drop her off in Jersey City. I live 9 miles away from the Hyatt. Cheers |
I'll be in NJ!!!
