Side mirror viewing - do you see much?

Can someone please share a picture of a closeup of their drivers side mirror for me?

I can't stand my mirrors on the X!
I have a work truck that I drive daily and I rarely ever have to shoulder check because I can see everything using my mirrors.
Then when I hop into the X, I can't see anything and I cannot adjust my mirrors to go out or up any further. I see the rear door handle in both mirrors. I constantly see the side of the X in both the drivers and passenger side mirrors. Are yours like that?! I don't have any confidence at all in using my mirrors, yes, I know to shoulder check, but still bothers me that the mirrors are pretty much useless and I have to lean way towards the steering wheel so I can use the outside edge of the mirror to see anything at all.
When I look closely at the mirrors, it seems like there just isn't enough room for the mirrors within their housings. Is this a design flaw or can they be adjusted? Does your mirror gap look like mine?

I don't have a visibility problem with my mirrors.

That looks like it is adjusted all the way inward. if it doesn't go more outward than that something is busted/stuck. I don't see any of my vehicle in my mirrors.

Driver side mirror on our '01 does not have that gap between mirror and mirror wing.
Looks like another mirror was glued in...

And, while not as elegant as the Europa mod that a few posters have done, my .99 cts stick on convex mirrors, (larger one on pass side), have been on since Day 2, 14 1/2 years ago.

Your mirror isn't oe, imo.

Many of us have upgraded to the optional "aspherical" design. The inner part is a normal flat mirror while the outer 1/4 (or so) is wide angle. Completely eliminates blind spots. I got mine from an eBay seller shipping from Latvia of all places.

I did this. Mine came from eBay/Korea. No issues.

Ditto...with the aspherical/wide angle e53 mirrors...I can see perfectly...and across multiple lanes.

Upgrading my side view mirrors was one of the 1st few mods I did...being used to having aspherical mirrors on my e34, e38 & e39...the e53 freaked me out when I first got it...changing lanes was scary because I always felt like I was going to side-swipe a car in my blind spot.

Now, with the aspherical mirrors...there's no more blind spots. These mirrors include the area highlighted in yellow (with red arrows)...which the plain mirrors just can not compensate for...even when positioned correctly (according to the experts). The plain mirror's viewing area has its built in limitations that the aspherical/wide angle mirrors cover:

I like the asphericals too, and may switch to those in the future... but haven't had any problems with properly adjusted stockers. Those little round convex mirrors... can't stand em. Took both off the X as soon as I got it home from California.

I think your mirror is having issues OP if you can see your handles when adjusted all the way out. I'll check but I don't think I can see any of the truck if I adjust them all the way out. You may want to take a peek in there to see what's going on.

Mine are adjusted such that I can't see the rear door handles. Something looks wrong with the mirrors in the OP. There's way too much space between the mirror and the housing. It looks like the wrong mirrors were installed.
