New tranny now brakes!

Well everything seems great with the new trans. and after having my X at the dealership for a month and a half sorting out this trans. problem I put six hundred miles on it. Two days ago my brake light comes on and stays on and check brake linings code pops up. So I take it in and turns out my front and rear brakes were down to 1/32 " so I needed to have them fixed. I could only afford to get the fronts done yesterday and the mechanic told me i could get about 3,000 miles out of the rear brakes so in a week or two i will get the rears replaced as well. When bmw replaces brakes they also do the rotors so its not cheep and not covered under my cpo. I was looking online at brembo brake rotors and love the look of the drilled rotors and the price was just about 30 bucks more then the oem rotors i just had put on. Is there a real advantage to these types of rotors or are the brakes and rotors you get from bmw as good as the brembo brakes and rotors?

you will soon realize that the list doesn't end there. next goes the windows regulators, door actuators, cv boots, battery, water pump, valley pan gasket, leaking coolant resevoir, leaking washer fluid resevoir. after all that, your suspension system starts going south too. the first 4 things listed above happened to my x and i am thinking the next item is on its way out too, that is water pump.

They look "better" to some; if installed properly and very carefully
bedded in, they may perform better than oem, under track/extreme
conditions. For driving around town and in 99% of regular use, you
will probably not notice a diff., other than possible reduced brake dust.

If 30 bucks a rotor is a deal breaker, there is absolutley nothing "wrong"
with oem rotors.

Jeez.. do them yourself.. there's a writeup, which even without it wouldn't be that hard. Parts are NOT that expensive. The dealer is raping you in labor.

Brembo rotors, etc don't make a difference. Rotors don't really matter. Get the ones from autozone and you'll be fine; dilled, slotted, etc is nonsense for street use. Use good pads.
