do not use herb chambers in boston

i signed a lease with herb chambers in boston for a 07 4.8i. i worked out a deal with my dealer but when they did my lease contract the manager changed 2 numbers in the selling price of the car but the monthly payment didnt change( obviously he planned to change the price when he told me the month payment).when i signed the contract i didnt look too carefully at the selling but just at the monthly payment and so forth and it looked all right. looking over the contract today, i realized the selling price on my lease contract was higher then the msrp. i went back to the dealer and they said they changed the selling price because i wanted more money for the trade and refuse to do anything since it was already signed. I agree its my own fault for not reading the contract but if this is the way they do business you guys should be careful if you deal with them.

they've been known to be tricky like that... best thing you can do is take away their service money and go to FMW.

Boston X5 4.4 is on a distinguished road

Herb Chamber is the WORST place in the Boston area to buy or service a BMW. I have heard so many horror stories about that dealership it is unbelievable to me that people still go there. The salespeople are both smug, and ignorant and bait and switch is their modus operandi. The SA's seem to know less than the salespeople.

I live in Boston about two miles from Herb Chambers and still bring both our X5 and M3 about 20 miles away to Peabody for service.

Foreign motors west, Peabody, Wagner are all better choices.....rant over

Bad news - Foriegn Motors apparently got purchased by Herb Chambers - check out the website:

http://www.fmwrollsroyce.com is an automative redirect to Herb. Click on BMW and you get this http://www.herbchambers.com/ou/natick-bmw/?make=bmw

Looks like it's time to switch again...

is there any way to prove that they changed the numbers on you? and also, what does changing the numbers do other than affect your residual? unless you're planning on buying it after the lease is up, it shouldn't matter if you still have the same payments right?

edit: didn't realize this was originally posted back in march...carry on

I wish i had read this thread before i made my purchase. I'm new to this forum and the world of X5's. I just bought a '05 CPO X5 from Herb Chambers Boston. Not only was their attitude through the entire process aloof, but also at times arrogant.

The car was not even properly detailed. There was brake dust on the wheels, not just a little, but almost as if the car had been driven for 20 to 40 miles after the last wash.

A couple days after i picked up the car, i checked my fluid levels. The washer fluid level was half the capacity, the Coolant level was minimum, the engine oil level was little below minimum. The spare tire was not the standard 131 for the 4.4i and was a completely different style, WTF.

It's scary to think the implications had i trusted them and driven the car for 3K miles before checking my oil or coolant level.

This is unacceptable by any standard, more ss for a dealership selling high end cars.

Thats completely messed up, thats worth a letter or something. However the question is: would it do anything?

The wheel thing, though isn't their fault. The spare tire is always the style for the 3.0i non sport.

This seems to be a common practice around here lately
(Not reading contracts carefully that is).

I hope the rest of you are reading this.
I'm not sure one can blame the dealer
for under-handed practices when we
all know from jump street that that's
what auto dealers do.

It's like hoping that a snake won't
bite you, when you know it will.

The sad fact is that most dealers try to screw you with a lease, they can change money factors, bank fee and residual. You can check the lease payment with a excel spread sheet or a finical calculator. I think we should have a thread on pricing and lease payments.

A thread on reading your contract before signing it will suffice.
