Lookin for good service in Wash. DC area

Lookin for a new place to service the X3 in the future, since VOB switched service advisors on me again and this new one isn't so great. Does anyone in the Wash. DC area have a dealer and service rep they'd like to recommend?

I've heard decent comments about the service at BMW of Sterling, but I'm not sure if they'll offer a loaner to someone who didn't buy from them. A loaner's kind of important now since we only have 2 cars for 3 people.

Suggestions and names/numbers appreciated. Thanks

Alan Mickinack at BMW of Arlington has been my SA for over 2 years. They do loaners (free Enterprise for 48 hours), and they offer a shuttle to the Metro as well.

How's their service though? Quick to dismiss complaints, or will they actually look into a concern?

My experience at BMW of Arlington has been so so. I was working with the Service Manager on a low priority repair. He NEVER returned my calls. I felt like I had to harrass him to get anything done, but in the end of the day, they did a good job. I think BMW of Arlington is worth a try but dont be afraid to leave a few VM to get them going on a job if they treat it as low priority....

Agreed on the contacting part. They have a website to "moniter" your service status. Doesnt provide a whole lot of info though. My largest complaint is that Arlingt (both locations) takes 3 weeks to get an appt if you didnt buy your car from them.

However when you do get your car in, and they do contact you, its swift and they send you on your way.

I reccomend taking the shuttle and opting out of the Enterprise rentals. They are basically Rent-a-wrecks that are running on bald tires and three cylinders.

Edit: Sorry just now noticed how long ago this post is from. Hope you found something that worked. Let us know.

Edit 2: Never mind about my statement on being swift service.

BMW of Fairfax has good service, '07 328 loaners, appointment is fast, drive in is fast too, but if you are out of warranty IT IS EVEN FASTER, they want money...everything is 5 on scale of 1 to 5. BUT watch your pocket.

Russel BMW worked out for us quite well last week (7/13). They even offered to have a tech ride with me so I could duplicate the problem. They ordered the left motor mount and had it fixed by the following Tues. Tom Wolff was a referral from WagnerX5 and he was great and friendly. Didn't have a BMW loaner, but that's okay. The Enterprise rental was a '07 Mazda3 2.3i sport in decent condition, something I didn't mind driving at all. Tom picked up the tab for 5 days' worth of rental.

At least Russel isn't overbooked and cramped as badly as VOB. After losing my service rep (he left), there is no reason for me to go there. They will only pay your Enterprise rental for one day. They dismissed my problem as "no problem found". The people that drive the BMWs in and out of the cramped service bay always have me worrying that they'll clip a fender or snap a mirror.

I've heard mixed reviews about BMW of Fairfax, thats why I'm hesistant to bring it there. I know they have a new service bay, but that doesn't change the service advisors' attitudes or the actual service itself. I think Sterling BMW has overall more positive feedback.

I've had a good experience in BMW of fairfax. My service advisor is Glenn Walker. Good guy and will try to get your car out asap. Also provides loaner from on site Enterprise. I brought mine in last Friday for a steering column change and will get it on Monday. Its okay though as they gave me an 07 328i

george, they gave me 07 328i last time when i had my battery replaced. and one more time when i had my instrument cluster replaced for FREE (goodwill). They have been great, but too pricy for outofwarranty owners.

I think you're right NOVA. I fortunately haven't had the chance to bring my car in for something other than warranty replacements. But that's why they're called steelers I had a chance to look at there plant during an owner's meeting several months ago and the facility and equipment is impresive. I guess someone's got to pay the bills for all this expansion.
