BMW OF FAIRFAX - BEWARE If You Have EXTENDED WARRANTY

They have stopped honoring third party extended warranties from other companies.

You are SOL if you have it with someone else other than what they offer. My rear side windows regulator just went and so I drop off my X5 with them only to get a call back saying no more extended warranties from other companies and I need to pay for it myself. They even refuse to take calls from the extended warranty company OR call them. According to them it is a pain (AHOLES)

Does anyone know of any non dealer type service centers that will take care of issues like these in the fairfax area? My extended warranty company this time has agreed to pickup the claim once I pay out of my pocket but has asked me to look for another dealer or another sevrice center for future repairs.

Oh btw Frankie Johnson at BMW of Fairfax is one helluva lady and a great Service Advisor. I talked to Jeff this time as she was booked all the way till the end of the month and Jeff is one rude chap. I am sure BMW will hear from me once they call (and if they do)

VOB BMW in Rockville will not honor any warranty, not unless its theirs! Secondly be very carefull when dropping of your Bimmer with them, they have some reckless dudes driving costumer cars. Inspect your car fully before you get to the dealer and note any scratches, any body damage. Once you get there, there will be a guy to look at your car,no problem with that. The problem is at the end of the day when they call you to come and pick up your car. That same guy who was there to see whether your car had any body damage is nowhere to be seen. Usually when VOB calls you to come and pick up your car it is evening, its dark, and you can't see that well.My 20" rims were scratched there and the shop never took responsability for the damage!

That SUCKS, Mick. They are owned by the same company that owns the dealership closest to me, which means I'll be SOL too.

Does your warranty usually have you pay for repairs and reimburse you personally or do they always reimburse the service facility?

The SA's at BMW of Arlington told me that my extended warranty company usually sends out an inspector to sign off on repairs and they don't do that very muchly at the service dept.

Nopes..the beauty of working with my extended warranty company was that the dealership used to call them and charge directly the warranty company's credit card. I was never involved. I used to just drop and pickup the truck.

I did see a BMW service center in fairfax today that is also DINAN certified. I bet they are going to be on my list of places I need to visit and gather info.

Also, try Auto Advantage in Manassas. They are primarily a used BMW dealer, but they do pretty much complete service as well. I have not used them for service, but have bought two vehicles from them, including my X5. They sold me my aftermarket warrantee (from Ultimate Warrantee), so I sure hope they would accept it for service work. I can vouch for their attention to detail with prepping their vehicles for sale--it is at least as good as a dealer's CPO.

Here is their web site:

Thanks for the link. very helpful. apart from pickup and dropoff for every day, they also have loaners. very nice.

Alan, my SA at BMW of Arlington told me they also don't generally accept 3rd party warranties, but he says he's going to try to get my repairs covered through mine. I don't know if this is angling for some special recognition from me, or what. He made it seem like a general hassle to deal with warranty companies. My question is...isn't that part of a Service Advisors job?

Hate to say it, but my BMW dealer experiences have paled in comparison to my experiences with Nissan and especially MB. I had two used MB's, the dealers treated me like I had just brought in a Maybach.
