I recommend that Tasmanian BMW ownere avoid Both of the local state dealers. From my experience they are inept, disgracefully expensive, and provide amazingly bad customer service. I am just so happy that I am able to service my own vehicles. Better to take your vehicle to Southbank in Melbourne.
Experience 1
Went to Launceston Autohaus Spare Parts department to buy 2 new rubber hand grips for my BMW R1100S. Was quoted $400.00 parts only. Went to another motorcycle shop, bought new generic hand grips for $20. Saving $380.00
Experience 2
When looking to buy an X5, went to a local field day (Agfest). was shown a car by a dealer rep who really wasn't interested, took my details, promised to send me some literature. Still waiting 3 years later (actually bought my X5 now in another state)
Experience 3
I needed to replace the plastic strips which slide into channel of the roof racks. $2 piece of plastic, was quoted $30. I ordered them anyway, but was told that I would have to make a trip in to pay for them before they would place the order. (company Policy). I advised them I also had a policy of not paying for something before it is provided, and made other arrangements. This is not what I expect as good customer service from a BMW annointed dealer.
