That sucks! But I have seen worse.
Can you feel it with the tip of your fingernail? If you can't then it can be removed completely. If you can feel it it can be made "less visible".
I would wash the whole car, or at least the panel where the scratch is.
Always try using the least aggressive polish that will remove the scratch.
