I could have sworn, at one time, they were going to do it for something closer to $750. I could be wrong.

This is a canned program. They should just get your engine code and send you a data uploader and be done. No back and forth. Also, if you have to go into the dealer and get a BMW software update, they will flash you pcm and BAM you are back to stock. Then how much does Powerchip charge to do another upload???

With Steve Cole's Powerloader you would never have to worry about it. It locks to your vin and you can upload as many times and you want to your car. I do not know how much Steve Cole is still onvolved in dealing with customers and such after his HUGE debacle on the corvette forum, but his product was great.

I talked to PowerChip awhile ago and with the pcm change they still kept the speed limiter on there. I would like that off I would also tend to think they could squeze some more power out the program. 20 hp, is probably just coming from changing the timing a lil bit. Hell, they could change the timing, the fuel maps/pulse widths, shift points, line pressure and really have some fun. Yeah, still a 5000# truck, but for $900, I want more than 20hp and more parameters changed.
It is $640 for the the 4.6. $590 after this discount, and that is for their claim of 30hp/30tq.

I forgot to be more specific. I am talking about the '04-'05 4.8 and 4.4, which they list for $990. The 4.6 quote is much closer to the market. Powerchip told me that the valvetronic was harder to reprogram. IMO I think that is BS, but that is just based on what I know about using an editor (ls1edit) on GM cars.

Kelleners has a program for $798 (valvetronic), so PC on GB should at least want to match that or be under it.

Dinan's charges $499-799 for their tuning, no valvetronic though. Howeve, I am not sure if they just do stage 4 tune or make you buy all the rest of their overpriced stuff with it.

So Powerchip does have some room to come down in their prices, imo.
