I'm working with a few companies on pricing to see who will give us the best deal

hey, i noticed on some of the kits, u can get
different color filters. is this possible w/ this
Group Buy?
Those are called pre-filters, and I won't think they'll work for our application. I was interested in those as well and they serve only for color coordination, so I don't think we're missing out on much

There is a law known as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty, that prohibits a manufacturer from void a warranty simply because you did not use a specified air filter. They must prove how the filter actually caused the problem.

Yes it will work with xenon headlights. I verified it with members who already had the intake system.

Guys, as for pricing, I'm still working it out with a few companies to see who will give us the best deal.

uuuh.. oil from the filter getting on the MAF is pretty common and WILL foul the MAFs. Lots of cases where guys on the M3 board had to go buy new MAFs for $400 since it's solid proof that the intake was the cause.. do what you want but its fair warning. You got 2 MAFs on the V8's so do the math.

the problem with getting oil on the MAF is usually when one cleans the filter and OVER oils it. MAF's can usually be cleaned.

Keep your old intake setup. If you need to take it to the dealer (who might not be mod friendly), install your oem setup. It really doesn't take long and can save you a lot of trouble.

SANguru: You are absolutley right, every air filter can run the risk of having the MAF ruined. I believe your response was more 'responded' i guess by quack.

Excellent idea. I did that for a lot of my parts on my old LS400. Didn't matter because I didn't have a warrenty anyways

All the companies I was talking too are off Saturday and Sunday. I'll get back on the issue on Monday. The general response I'm recieving is that the prices they'll do, they might not be able to post publically because AFE might not let them be a distributor anymore I think we might have something guys!

Since we have so many guys that want intakes, I'm going to expand this on any BMW intake, as long as you are an X5world member. I'm keeping track of all this. If you aren't on the list, just copy the list and add yourself on it.
Remember guys, if you have any questions, just ask me and I'll try, or another knowledgeable member, will try to answer your question as best as possible.
