Is the 1st gen Iphone adapter and the 3g adapter different ?
Here are the part numbers I found not sure if it works on e 53 : BMW Part # 84-10-9-182-792 but the extra parts needed are 84 21 6 946 075 [snap in adapter / Eject box] and 51 16 7 060 175 [Eject box frame] info taken from http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...lots-pics.html
