Okay, here was my situation ... bought a CPO with 20k miles. Had the OEM Diamaris at the time. Put another 15k on, but the noise and rear inside wear were the determining factor (in fact, when I saw the rears off, was surprised at the inside shoulder).

Performance wise - I am far from an aggressive driver, but expect the X5 to respond when I ask (this is my 4th BMW since 1986). The Latitude is a responsive tire - good road manners, all season, etc. I plan to get 40k plus out of this investment .. sure got more out of the Diamais than most, but not the total package in my opinion.

Always been a Michelin guy (have no resemblence to Mr. Bib or the Stay Puff Marshmellow Man) and these tires have yet to disappoint - 2 thumbs up.

Diamaris and Latitudes are apples and oranges. Diamaris are great handling tires for summer up here but should not be used in cold weather or snow. I loved my diamaris, they gripped like crazy around curves, but I had to change over to snows in the winter. The latitudes are a great all season tire, I can keep them on all year and not have to change them with the seasons. Performance is not the same but they work all year. Not sure whether you need all season in AZ.

Yeah, we dont exactly have typical seasons in AZ. However, I am an avid snowboarder and take the X to snowy places in the winters. So it seams like I shouldn't be driving in the snow with the diamaris' according to everyones comments. I have another X5 which has the 18 inch MXV4 Michelins maybe ill just throw those on my 4.4 or just take that X5 when i go in snow.

What are peoples experiences with driving the diamaris' in snow? Just curious?

Three words. DON'T DO IT. There's a thread here somewhere that was started by a guy asking if we thought it was OK for him to go up to the mountains skiing with them. We all said no. He did it anyway. Didn't turn out too good. I'll see if I can find it.

WOW... Thanks cmyX5go, Well that totally cleared up any questions of using the diamaris setup in snow. I think when winter comes and I go to the mtns I'll either use the 18's with MXV4 on my other X5 (which I have driven in snow many times and they hook up well) or get another set of 17's or 18's off craigslist.

The one thing I am sure of is i wont be taking it in the snow with the diamaris setup. I love my X and myself way to much to cheap out and tempt driving it in snow with those tires. Thanks again for the GREAT info.

You're welcome. Too bad the other guy didn't listen
