You might want to order 2 sets of the rears as you'll be changing them again relatively soon.

Is there a particular reason? Its always good to hear negative feedbacks too.

Don't know the reason, but people have reported quite rapid wear. Do a search on the board. One guy, richirich, I believe is already changing his rears after less than a year.

You know I really do no not think there are any brands in the 315 / 20"

size that will last very long; I'll monitor the mileage and keep y'all posted.

I have the Wintrac 4's winter tire and they have been awesome. Great in the snow and also on the pavement. Rated to 149

As soon as the Diamaris wear out, sessanta will be going on.

RichRich has the sessantas as do a few others here. Re- Search and many threads should come up.

I have Vredestein Wintrac for about 2 month now - great tires, no noise at all, great handling on the snow & dry roads now.
Actually after speaking with few people and reading on some forums I decided to use them as All season tire....

good article:

"Kramer said that, while the Wintrac Xtreme carries both the M+S and snowflake symbols, designating mud and snow as well as pure winter capabilities, the tire’s water evacuating properties and wet, dry and winter traction make it an ideal four-season tire, as well. "

I'm also thinking of putting these in mine.

Might buy them from : eBay Motors: NEW BMW X5 CAYENNE VREDESTEIN TIRES 255 50 285 45 19 (item 250402825990 end time May-06-09 17:20:00 PDT)

Meister: Why do you say that ? are they too soft (ie very grippy but worn out quick?)

I'm not the expert here since I don't have them, do a thread search and make your own decisions. Richirich has good notes about them from what I can recall. However, in general, the higher performance the tire, the worse the wear. Can't have both, just ask Formula 1 or any other racing series. Vredesteins evidently have come out on top of a bunch of comparison tests and the reason for that should be pretty obvious, IMHO. As we all know too well, the X5 loves it's rear tires (especially their inside edges, which is one reason why the car handles better than 80% of the SPORTS cars on the road) and knowing that, I personally can't imagine sticking tires on it that will be useless in 10,000 miles.

BTW, it's just my opinion, but I think buying tires on ebay is about the craziest thing I've ever heard of.

What is the recommended tire pressure for the 275-40-20 fronts and 315-35-20 rear? right now I have 36 psi on the rear and 32" on the front.
Any advice?
