Manual trans only? Awesome! This will be a drivers car for sure.

Agreed. Great move to keep it more of an enthusiast car. If the next M is going to be a turbo as well, this may become the bigger M cult car.

Manual transmission only. Looks like BMW still understands the enthusiast even if they are going with turbo engines.

It was more like, keep the development and final product costs down. So no DCT. And 6-speed with N54.

That is sad.

Pretty sure those types of transmissions have the same sort of issues as regular automatics regarding failures. Seems like a real manual trans is much more reliable, not to mention fun.

Where are you hearing manual transmission only? I was at Ofest and asked Martin Berkmann about the engine and transmission and his lips were very tightly sealed.
