Welcome to the club!! Beautiful M3 my brother lives in Hotlanta(Atlanta) and he has 06 and loves it. I am sure if you haven't already experienced this but you may have a hard time sleeping as the M whispers your name all night telling you to drive her. It seems they like the night to go out and prey on other cars. Lol I know look for excuses to go runs errand for my wife, kids, pets or anyone else that may need something. My wife made a deal with me that I could not mod the car for a year. That lasted about 3 weeks and I got a Turner pulley. Next up is Eurocharged tune and spacers. The. rpi scoops and bmc filters. I hope you can last longer than I did on my commitment to not mod the car. They are such an impressive piece of engineering. Any ways enjoy that 6 speed nothing like the full body work out of rowing the gears. I tried the 6 speed on the M5 and loved it. But the stealer did not want to move the price and they were just asking too much. But I do love the SMG. It's very impressive. I could go on and on..... I think I am addicted to power! ![]() ![]()

Thanks TQ2K.
wally, I am looking for any reason to leave the house as well. I feel like I just got my license or something. The Turner pully is a good mod for the M3 as well. I am thinking that the car will stay mostly stock for a while, but I also plan on attending Oktoberfest at Barber Motorsports Park this fall, so... Meiac, there is a very good chance the M will see the Tail of the Dragon and surrounding roads this weekend. Bad news is that traffic will be very heavy up there on a holiday weekend, but the surrounding roads as well as the drive to and from should be nice.

Well, I did get the M up to the Tail of the Dragon over Memorial Day weekend and traffic wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It carved up the corners with ease. Here is one photo. I am waiting on a few better quality photos. Will post when I get them.

Hey man, congrats!! So is the X gone?
Not sure if you saw my post, but my X is leaving the stable after a good 213K miles - can't justify any more expensive repairs on it. Wife and I can't agree what to replace it with, but I might actually have her talked into a 535i (last generation). Going to look this weekend. Enjoy the M!!

We still have the X. It is my wife's car. It has been pretty well maintained and with 130,000 miles we plan on owning it for a few more years. We had many parts replaced under warranty before 100,000 miles and it runs well. I hope to keep it long enough to pick up a couple year old X3 after the prices drop a bit. Saw one with the sport package at the dealer a few weeks ago and it looked really nice. The e46 M3 is a replacement for my e36 325i (which has roughly 330,000 miles on it). This e46 has been simply amazing so far. I still look for excuses to drive it. This car has been everything and more than I expected and I expected a lot. The combination of the engine noise and exhaust rasp puts a smile on my face every single day. It literally begs to be pushed up near 8,000 RPM. Besides the overall driving experience, I really feel that it is a car that will look good for a very long time. A modern classic, imo. I did see your post about possibly letting your X5 go. I am pretty sure I have a post or two in it. I understand how it feels to put more money into an aging car, but I wouldn't worry as much about the market value of the car as I would the value to you, personally. You know what you have in the X. If you are still happy with it, repair it and drive payment free for another year or two. It may be worth fixing. On the other hand, my sister has an e60 525i and it is a very comfortable car. Drove much better than I thought it would. I am still not a huge fan of the exterior, but if you don't mind it, the e60 is a very good car, imo. The 535i would be even better power-wise. Good luck with the search if you decide to go that route.

Yeah, still working on the wife about another BMW - guess she is just leary because of all of the issues we had with the X. Also looking at an Audi Q5 as an option.

FSETH,
Absolutely gorgeous!! Congrats. I have a set of those wheels (now retired as I bolted on 132s on the 4.4) but I found some brushes at Auto Advantage that make it a lot easier to clean them. Good luck and enjoy!
