Mine is bought. I paid around $1,000 for the entire hood, front bumper and both front fenders. I will have to have my guys look into Xpel. The 3M came in a sheet that did not cver the entire hood.
My friend is a sales person at BMW and I asked him one day that question. He told me most BMW's sold are leased especially M's. Most are corporate leased cars & are tax right offs.

Most are leased - according to my dealer's finance guy.. Might be different in different parts of the country, but given BMW's high stated residual values (to reduce monthly payment), it would appear they expect most to lease.

I considered buying mine since I won't put that many miles on her, but the absurd post-OEM extended warranty/service contract pricing, combined with the death defying depreciation of $100K cars in general, further tipped the scales to leasing.

Re the clear bra - $1000 is in the ballpark and worth every penny if you do plan to keep it. The paint on the X5M/X6M seems particularly thin. I paid $1300 for my Z06 (that I'll have forever) and it's paid for itself many times.

Nice job. I have Xpel bra on my cars and no problems. Ventureshield is another product I heard good things about and heard they have one piece for entire E70 hood. Our sponsor DetailersDomain now does Ventureshield as well. Porsche owners love Ventureshield.
3m is said to have yellowing by some.

I did my X6M for $995. I made sure to also cover the running board/rocker panel area and in front of the rear wheels. Most of the 2-3k mile X5M and X6M vehicles without the 3M protection had numerous chips and pitted paint in these areas. Leased or purchased, who wants to drive these vehcles with " sandblasted" rocker panels?

Crap!!! The title of this post really had my hopes up. Too bad, it could have been one for the record book.

The running board/side strips are a must, wheel arches especially the rears, and then some folks are doing the uppermost part of the back bumper. I`ve used the 3M product - all depends on the experience of the fittment center.

Cheers,

I just had my guy do the rocker panels and, wheel arches and lower part of rear. I have some pitting already. Really pisses me off, considering the price of these cars and they are a design flaw like this. I am probably going to have the arches taken off and repainted in next few month, then reapply the film.

I am way to anal when it comes to my cars.

Clear Bra is great--had it on my Jet Black e53 for 9 years now (first time for 5 years, a lady hit me, and now for 4 years).

But I would never do the full hood or go crazy on all parts of the car--trust me, it looks super clear now but if you keep it more than 5 years it just doesn't look the same. Meaning, the regular paint and the Clear Bra have a little different texture look to it plus the paint looks great when waxed versus if you have the whole hood protected you can't do that. I paid probably $400, custom kit, which covered the front side of the front bumper, fenders and hood (about 12-18 inches in) and front of side mirrors.

Great pics. I just ordered the same color combo (Carbon/Bamboo). Any regrets on the Carbon Black? It was a toss up between Carbon and Sapphire for me.

Anybody in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio, KY or Indiana region looking for a professional and fantastic job, let me know and I will shoot you his info.

Some pics...
