I think it is because I do 90% highway and back road driving at speed that helps. I have gotten almost 400 miles on a tank on a long trip so I think my computer is working. I do not do much if any stop and go or city driving. Of course the faster you drive it the more gas it uses. But I bet city driving really drives down milage.....Steve

I'd say having the ///M for only the cost of the fuel is pretty lucky

I mean I get close to 20l in my 325xi because its a fatty, I'd say profit from the HP and just enjoy it!
I guess you could try D instead of DS. ![]() |

12ish as a average seems about right. Awesome drive. I'm going to cry when I have to give it back.

You are 100% right. It was just a bit of a shock after my E53 3.0d ... seems to use about twice the fuel and premium petrol costs an arm and a leg here.

I don't think my X5M would get 20mpg if i threw it off a cliff. And I don't care.

my consumption over the 6500k's I've driven mine (X6M) is 16.5L/100. they weigh the same as X5M's though
~3000k's of that was driving to townsville and back from brisbane, over which I avg'd 11.5L/100 - the rest is strictly suburban driving. using the second tripmeter I read around 18L/100 for the last few tanks I went fairly easy on the pedal for the townsville trip, just to see how well it would do on the juice. driving around town though is a mix of easy driving until it's warm and then all bets are off so 20+L/100 seems high from my perspective |

I get about 14 with a mixture of steady highway and aggressive city driving.
For the weight of the car and how it doesn't show it.....I am amazed that it's not 10! |

20 seems quite high, must have been very heavy with the fun pedal? My dealer also gave me an x6m loaner for a few days. It was apparently the first one in the country so they were treating the car like a baby, even delivering it to me on a flat bed truck!!
I managed to get 14L/100km. This was with mixed driving. Didn't really push it too hard as car had less than 500km on it. So i was actually quite impressed by the fuel consumption given what's under the hood.
