Just curious, I track a CBR1000rr at PIR, but never took my M5 to the track. Do they run the chicane on the front straight for cars? On motorcycles they almost never do and it makes for some 170+ mph braking for turn 1.

Awesome man! Would be great to see some in-car vids.
![]() In September I'll be taking the X5 to a semi-private driving event at a security specialist training installation (Blackwater). Here's some track info: U.S. Training Center We should be running the full course. Did you ever feel the X5M start to roll? I know what you mean by the rear end rotating feeling, but haven't pushed hard enough to feel one side start to really lift.

Yup, I had the tires screaming for grip but no lift. I think unless you change direction radically there won't be lift.

It would be interesting to see what happens with some sticky rubber like R compounds or Hoosiers.
I would imagine that having some slip in the tires is a good thing in the case of these SUVs

I would expect that R compunds would completely overwhelm the brakes. I had R compounds on my E46 with only an upgraded brake pad. The tires were so sticky when they would get up to tempature that the brakes would be overwhelmed. I could not get antilock to even kick in. They may even overwhelm the suspension. A little rotation is good in any car. Tires like a little bit of slip angle. Marc |

I'd be more concerned about the extra traction allowing it to tip a bit easier, especially if you hopped up on some curbing.

![]() (That picture was taken when the car was on it's way back down, it almost got to a 45 degree angle.) The entire crowd at the acu-4 course let out a quiet "oh fuck" all at the same time. Car had suspension, pads and 325mm wide Hoosiers.
