Once again I do not know the formula for figuring out air quality based on humidity/temp. If anyone does, chime in.....
I have typically used SAE standard J1349 (Jun 1990 version) to correct to standard conditions when running certified engine tests. Some use of ISO standard 15550 as well. In my case, these were typically witness tests on a test bed. By calculating the correction factors from each day to standard conditions, then comparing the two factors, you will get a relative conversion number. Note that this will only be reasonable over a relatively small temperature and humidity range (as SAE J1349 doesn't work for large correction factors). Also, I used the 1990 version which assumes 85% mechanical efficiency for ancillary drives. There is a later update to SAE J1349 from SAE, but you would need to know the actual parasitic load of the ancillaries, and you won't know that.

Just like with dyno tests, the best bet is to run back to back tests (ie with the OE filter, the K&N filter, and with no filters) to get the conditions as close as possible. If you can't do that, at least you can approximate the atmospheric condition impacts on hp.

Here is a calculator to use:

Engine Tuning Calculator - using dew point

Various calculators, all slightly different, as well as the tech info on the calculations, are shown on the left hand side of the page on that link.

if I were at a track rental, swapping filters would have been possible. But it is not something I was in the mood for on the side of a highway.

I held onto the factory filters just in case. But now that I am pretty sure the K&Ns have not hurt performance, I will toss them.

I do not plan on doing exhaust. and I do not think there is really any other bolt ons. So the only gains I have left are the race gas and regular tires

Really impressive. The cooler weather probably helped but that is really really quick. The traction off the line really helps everything, but even still the rolling 60-100 time of 5.17 seconds is up there with some of the faster sportscars. I'd like to extrapolate out to see the 60-120 and 60-130 times...probably close to 10 seconds for 60-130.

It was about 4 degrees cooler. and there was more gas in the tank.
I was just concerned the K&N might have hurt performance. and i am pretty sure it did not do that.

The next test will be with high octane
and
then with non run flats before winter.

imagine the performance with race gas, non run flats and cold weather!!!!!
I am making a prediction of 11.70@119

Do the K&N filters add sound? I remember adding a K&M cold ar intake on a older 3 series and it added a great intake roar.

CAI always make sound.

These are just drop in, replacement fliters. no sound change

Coming back from my Thursday Poker game, I happen to be on the highway I used to make top speed runs on.

I did not go balls out, but I did want to see if the ESS Tune, eliminated the 155limit.(I know the BullyDog DID NOT eliminate it on my QX)

I am happy to say, it did!
I lifted at 163. I have no idea how accurate the speedo is, but it went past 155. When it cools off, I am making a banzai top end blast.

I do wonder what the ungoverned top speed of this SUV would be...I bet it could hit 170 stock before aerodynamics overcame the engine's power, if gearing would allow. Dinan keeps the limiter in place partially due to the runflats and partially due to the high center of gravity, although it does handle speed very well. It is definitely more stable with regular tires than with runflats, though.

The speedo is pretty optimistic with steady-state driving, usually reading about 5 mph high in my experience, although this is probably less true when accelerating.

At that speed the truck was great. straight line, steering never felt light. smooth as butter. Felt like it was cutting through the wind. I think 170+ will not be an issue all out.

Years ago I had a ML55 AMG truck and we took it up. At 140, it felt loose. You can tell it was not liking it. It had more in it, but just did not feel right.

I was a little hesitant, since I had an issue this afternoon. I dropped the hammer down a road and the Limp Home Mode popped up!!!!! But I shut her off. Waited a few seconds and started it back up and it has been fine all day. Hell, it couldn't have been that important if it just reset.LOL
So coming home from my poker game tonight. I decided to make a quick pass.

I stopped for gas before I decided, so FULL tank.
Temp was 48F. Humidity was 88%
So more weight. cooler temps, same humidity
From the results. This truck is liking the weather. Look at that MPH!!!!
