I would get a new dead pedal. The one you have on just don't look right. First, it doesn't completely cover the plastic and second, the left edge is straight where the plastic piece is angled. They sell ones that are angled on the left edge instead of straight.

Looks like you have the X5 dead pedal. The 3 series dead pedal would fit better because it has that extra angle cut on the bottom left. I just installed a set on my X5 and on my 330xi so I know what you went through!
