CEL codes for lean banks 1 and 2. Do I have a vacuum leak?

New to me 2004 X3 3.0 came to me with a check engine light on. I scanned it and had codes for lean bank 1 and lean bank 2. I checked running fuel trims and they were about 24 on each "bank".

I thought this might indicate a vacuum leak. Wondering if this is a common issue and if so,....where I might look first.

Am I the only one to ever experience this?

Quite a common problem on any m54 engine. Loads of info in the net.

my 2.5l one had a broken DISA valve where you can get a repair kit for AND a rather large hole in the rubber intake tube between the maf and the intake manifold.

Fixed those and it runs fine again with a few ponies back in the stable.

Yeah, I just started doing Google searches since no one on Xoutpost was responding. Based on what I read, decided to order a new fuel filter and intake boot about a week ago,...then do a smoke test.

Intake boot is usually the cheapest and easiest route to check first.
