hmmm....you seem to lack some confidence there blackx.....I mean, the x3 is a gorgeous car, and, for those of us w/out the extra 12 grand or so to make the jump, it's a great value....I know some x5 owners with same engine (3 liter)...that just makes no sense....the x3 is obviouosly faster/better handling than the lowest end x5...and, as you say youself, virtually the same size, in terms of storage/stowing.

Personally, I live in NYC and the smaller x3 is easier to park, gets better mileage and has a slightly nicer profile....Both my wife and I will drive it (in the city most people have one car, if they have that) when we get it (soon) and i really don't think i'll feel like a chick

Hell, if took any time to worry about what complete strangers passing me by (or, in the x3, me passing them) at 65 mph thought, i'd never get a damn thing done

I say just enjoy the car and use it in good health....anybody so shallow that they'll judge your masculiniity based on that ain't worth knowing
So grow a pair and don't worry about what some Saturn driver thinks

Andy Rooney owns an X3

Andy Rooney owns an X3! So, I wouldn't say the X3 is "chick car" but rather and "Old Farts" car. Right?

In either case, I bought a Saturn VUE. It was half the price of the X3. So, if a "chick car" is designated by price, mine must be wearing little panties. (little panties with a 250HP 3.5L V6 VTEC Engine that is).

I know a lot of "Old Farts" that drive the VUE. They don't drive my VUE, they drive their own. Well now that I think about it they don't really drive it, they tow it...behind their really big RVs.

Anyway, I don't think my VUE is a girly car. Of course it's not an X3, in fact it's not really even a Saturn...it's a Honda. But that's beside the point.

Bottom line. I don't think the X3 is a girly car either...for most.

Pretty weird post/thread, imo...
If this was a stock board I'd think
it was a Pump&Dump.

i test drove both the X3 and X5 (3.0i), and chose the X3 because of it's better handling and power-to-weight ratio. i will say that i do like the look of the X5 better, and that the X3 looks less aggressive in comparison. to counter that, i intentionally chose black with the sport package in hopes that it would look more aggressive (which i think it does!).

if i won the lottery today, i'd probably add a 4.8 X5 to my car collection, but would still keep the X3.

i define a chick car as a car with a "pretty" or "feminine" look to it, such as a vw beetle or mazda miata. i don't associate it strictly with size (e.g., a porsche boxster is not a chick car). my husband loves my X3 and doesn't feel any less masculine driving it. hell, he'd kidnap it from me in a hot minute if he could. i think i'm going to need to start keeping the keys in a safe as precaution, as a matter of fact.

i think your friend with the saturn vue is just jealous...

I was right there with you and then I read... your a chick!
My point is proven!
Chick car!

Anyway, my friend in Oregon isn't jealous - he's gay and doesn't care what he drives. The girlier the better, he says.
He used to drive a red mazda miata. http://www.xoutpost.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

so, because you get one female X3 owner who replies to your thread, the X3 is a chick car? well, then, applying your logic would mean that ALL cars are chick cars since it's almost a certainty that there's at least one female owner of every car model out there. except maybe a bugatti veyron...

Next time he goes shopping for anything, he should bring his friends. This way he won't have to worry whether they approve. Strap on a set. They talk about women. I know what I want and could care less what anyone else thinks. Sorry dude, but you deserve to be flamed. Everyone gave honest opinions but you want to hear you bought a chick car.

You have an X5!
Why can't I have an X5?
Even my gay friend Corey got the car he wanted - his Saturn Vue isn't a chick car.
He didn't want an X5.
I thought the X3 looked cool when I bought it but it's a girlie queer car!
That's what people tell me.
I even drove it to West Hollywood and they thought I was gay like Corey.

Oh well, next time I'll make sure to bring friends for validation.

Is there something I can do to toughen it up so people will think it's an X5?

It's just that you're a chick so your vote doesn't count.
You have to be a man to understand the horror of driving around looking dainty.
You're like a Chinese person debating over chicken chow mein vs. spagetti and meatballs - you can't be objective.

Thanks for trying though.
