You mean to tell us you bought a car and had it insured and don't know what year your car is? What's preventing you from looking at your reg and checking the door sill. Something stinks here.

Give the guy a break.......he's from Finland and they might have different insurance/registration rules there? That X3 doesnt even have the model designation.

But damn, seeing that color and the clear turn reflectors makes me envious! And he has xenons

Oh, the door handles would only be chrome standard in the U.S. market. So I guess that wouldn't apply to your X3.

Teak wood eh? Please take some pictures of that... I don't think I, or anyone else on the board has seen that !

We were talking about the front fender. Thats the piece that connects the front bumper to the front door. In 04' all X3's had a two piece fender (with the line being slightly higher then the first line next to the door). For model year 05' and onwards (after criticism from the press about cutting corners) BMW made a 1 piece front fender...

But do check that door sill, since that would be the surest and easiest way...

I checked the code, put it to that "VIN decoder", it told me :

Production FROM : 2004/01/02 TO : 2005/08/31

So.. 2004 and 2005 are the same??

The production date is on the door sill sticker. Model years most often start production around aug. of the previous year ie: production date 08/04 is most likely a 05 model year car. You are really making this a lot harder than nessesary.

Exactly production date & model date differ.

I checked the door sill.. there is only a information about the tire pressure, and the silver plated BMW running board..

Finnish insurance needs only the production date. They dont care if it is 2004 or 2005 yearmodel .. I think .. or maybe they know better

That X3 wiki said that there are no 2004 x3 cars made with bluetooth, so mine must be 2005 because I have it.

Like some mentioned above... the best easiest way to check is the front fenders - right below the side indicator:

2004 model is 2-pieces

2005 model is 1-piece
Name: 2005.jpg

Size: 7.5 KB
