Nav??
I guess what I want to know is if you get the NAV, do you get upgraded interior features like with IDrive, or is it simply a NAV screen. Does the PDC show up on the screen or is it on audible? Can I change the seat heating locations? HVAC control? Parked car HVAC control? Is there a users manual that I can be linked too? I am looking at purchasing a 2007+ model, but if the NAV system is only used for NAV, then I dont really need it, but if it operates similar to IDrive, then I think that it might be worth the $2900 premium it commands. |

Nav system is a selfcontained full navagation system with voice prompts and clear text display--It can be full map screen or split map/text--it also displays all radio settings and controls and all Sat radio info if your car is equipped--it also reads out your trip computer info same as the button on the steering wheel stalk. It displays time and date also. It also controls the bluetooth enabled phone. It does not do stuff like heating, lighting etc. If you get nav then your radio has no display on the face. After using it for 5 days I like it and once you learn the controls its quite to use---I like the fact that it is up high easy to glance at while also seeing the road ahead. True its an expensive option but so is everything else and It will add to resale value. THere might be a PDF of the book somewhere--maybe someone can help you on this. |

BTW, NAV is $2900 in Canada
Packages are also different in Canada. www.bmw.caI didn't think that it would work like IDrive does with the HVAC functions, but I hoped it would. Thanks for the info. I will more than likely be buying a CPO 2007+ X3, so I know know that the NAV is not essential for me to have. If I am able to purchase new, then it will have NAV and Comfort. |

One more + with the nav if you get the upgraded radio, the nav screen also controls the dsp settings that you can create for your personal preferences. Otherwise with out the Nav you only get the 4 preprogramed enviroments.

The Navi system provides the following features: - Radio screen (radio has no screen at all), with radio name, RDS info, list of radio channels (for the 6 buttons), etc. - CD and 6-CD changer screen (ok, it only says TR01 and probably CD01, not much more than that) - iPod integration (don't have it, don't know exactly what it does) - Navigation system *fully workable only with the knob*, which is really important when one is driving. it would be nice to have a knob near the shift gear though, like the iDrive, but the advantage of not having to worry if one has to rotate the knob, or to move the knob, or to press it, or to press the menu, or to do something else.. - integration of radio/cd/etc and navigation, via split screen (the info is shown while the navigation instructions are kept on the side of the screen) - BTW: the X3 navigation *do* support perspective, like the iDrive system, even if BMW tells you otherwise. Just search the forum. In conclusion: the system, even being expensive, is worth the money and much better solution than any aftermarket product. Try it. You'll want to have it.
