Drove my sister's 04 x3 noticed the truck was very noisy compated to my x5.Specifically the front end and or brakes.Makes a very loud noise all the times like a loud humming. The brake pedal feels find and no vibrations. However the road noise/harshness is very loud.Any ideas before i go to dealer ? thanks

First thing to check out is the tires. Are they heavily or unevenly worn? Do they have the correct air pressure?

Yea, the Bridgestones are the worst of the 3 possible OEM tires (the other two being Michelin and Pirelli Scorpion STR). That is probably your reason, combined with the fact that the X3 doesnt have as good noise deadening as most other BMWs.

I agree that it is probably the tires. I just bought a set of 18" wheels that had worn Bridgestones on them and, man those things were loud! I had a set of Pirelli Scorpions on before them and just bought a set of BFG G-Force KDWS's to replace them, and both were much, much quieter. Amazing difference in noise level!
