Auto gear box issues and other questions

Hi all.I would like to ask for your help.I did a search
but the results are too many (X5 and X3 forums) to find what i am looking for.The past few weeks i have been experiencing this:the auto gear box seems to upshift and downshift quite steeply, stiffly and as a result you feel(sense) a shake in the cabin.Any clue why it does that?I have read here about some problems with the auto box but i didnt understand what were those.I asked
at the workshop the other day (i went to change my oil at 2000 kms,as i was instructed after replacing my engine for better break in) but he was too busy to connect the car and i got bored waiting.Another question,i cant lift the windscreen wipers for they hit the hood.I read something in the manual but still nothing.Any help would be truly appreciated.
