(shrugs) I wanted a used 330i coupe (which can be had for $~20k)......but dad bought a Mazda MX-5 (hardtop) so the X3 moved to me. I dunno why my dad thought it was wise to have so many cars when our townhouse is a single car garage.

Now I see how college kids rack up huge credit card bills...........they buy all the stuff they want and ship it straight to their dorms! (Cuz their parents won't know)

Go buy a couple of these:

Or, one of these:
http://www.gainesvillecoins.com/prod...leMS70NGC.aspx

(no connection with this coin stlr; there are literally thousands in
the US. I simply pulled it to show interesting and appreciable US
gold coins, high rated.)

Tuck them away in a safe or safety deposit box; you're 23ish.
When you are 50ish, you can go midlife crisis car shopping for
whatever hot ride they are selling in 2034, and cashing these
in would be a large downpayment, I would suspect.

Or, stick the dough in an Index Fund, add a grand ever year and
you'll be ahead of the game. A $1500 trinket or gizmo bought now
will be forgotten, unused, broken or, in the attic in a few years.

save it for now until there is a need for it (like sudden maintenance, or part needed).

The second one,
You use friends parents' businesses around here in HS (I buy something, ship to friends dad's store; friend buys something ships to my parents office) , but the fact that I mem'd their CC#'s years ago means they go over every statement with a fine tooth comb. damn!

I can feel you on the too many cahs to fit in your garage thing. When we moved to ME from NH, we were giving up our barn, but left the antique at a friend's; so we had two cars. We sold the barn and had the Model A up here, which takes one of the two spots, then we got the T'Reg, we babysit a Highlander Hybrid every winter break and my car makes 5. oops. Thank god our neighbors would be hypocrites if they enforced the "no more cars than garage stalls" covenant. or any other one for that matter

On topic, though, I would be torn. I'd make a break for NH, either the Apple Store in Salem, A HD DV camera or something from Bavarian Autosport. Or I could appease my parents and buy my own fookin' tires
