LeMansX5 have you posted any good shts of the new X3? I couldn't find any with a search. The exterior of the new Q5 looks more upscale than the current X3 and the interior quality of the X3 is not even close to the photos of the Q5.

Not yet. BMW is testing it on test mules with current 3-series wagon body.

Very nice...I'd drive that in a heartbeat. If gas prices continue to rise this might be an option to my thirsty V8.

It's looks like a baby Q7..which is bland as hell. And there's no way this thing will drive as well as the X3 does, no way at all!

Don't be so sure. Audi is a master at AWD vehicles. The A4 2.0T quattro was dubbed "sportiest in class" in a 2006 comparison test of AWD sports sedans (which did, incidentally, include the BMW 325xi).

Even if the X3 is fantastic to drive, the horrible transmission basically nullifies it. The Q5 will use the same perfect ZF six-speed as in the Jaguar XK/XF, and it should come with the 3.0TDI some time next year, although that's only a guess.

Being the first to make awd standard isn't the end all, esp considering that was decades ago. If anything, they're being left behind as far as drivetrain tech goes. They better adopt the direct-yaw concept quickly if they want to keep up in vehicle dynamics, because it really is revolutionary.

My premise for the Q5 being crap is based on looking at what the Q7 is like to drive. I've driven loaner X3 3.0 auto's and never had a problem with the transmission. Nobody is even close to BMW in the crossover segment in terms of vehicle dynamics, and Audi is certainly one of the farther away ones so far.

I'm sorry but I have never considered the X3 anything close to luxury. The interior is a mess of mis-colored plastic, dated electronics and a rear seat lacking even the most basic necessities. I consider it to drive great but the interior is total let down, such a let down I'd take the 4/5 driving dynamics of my Tourareg and 5/5 interior(and I'm sure the Q5) to the 5/5 driving dynamics and 1/5 interior of the X3, end of story

4/5 for Touareg handling? lmao!

BMW updated the materials well in the later model. Mismatched plastic color..never heard that one before. What exactly is dated about the electronics?

This new Q5 looks so boring imo, it allready looks old imo.
Tiguan from VW looks better imo.
But interior, Audi are doing a great job.
Remember, X3 came in 03, that some years ago, always new premium cars are better than elder ones, that's how it should be imo.

All The Electronics are E46 revisions just like the Z4, WTF kind of 40k car has SINGLE zone climate control? That's Ridiculous!

And I happen to feel the Treg drives great, I don't notice much of a difference at all
