Low Mileage 2006 X3 3.0 Trade In Value??

Has anybody traded in their X3 (to the dealer) in order to upgrade/buy a new BWM?

Just curious as our family is growing and we'll likely be too big for the X3 in a year or so.

We have a 2006 X3 3.0 that is pretty loaded (nav, hi fi, heated seats) and, as now, it has about 11,000 miles (we live in NYC so driving is limited). It has a few little nicks on the back bumper (again city living) but otherwise I keep it very clean.

Just wondering about how much I can expect in trade in value, assuming I take it in for trade in Fall 2009 (which would allow me to get a 2010 model).

I love the X3 but with a kid, a dog and likely a second kid on the way by then, we'll probably bump up to the X5.

I'm not sure anyone could tell what the trade in value would be but one thing is probably for sure.......... It will be less than you think its worth. If gas prices continue to soar the market value for used SUVs will continue to decline. At that point in time you'll also be contending with the redesigned X3 so the value will be even less. My guess is you'll get something in the ballpark of 40% of what you paid for it.

Hmmm....Not hopeful, but you're probably right.

I've seen "my car" (with more miles) for sale on CarMax for nearly 29K, and a few sites that compute trade in value had it at about 25 to 26K, but both those seem hopeful.

I suppose getting 20 grand would help, but we'll see.

Thanks for the reply.

I do think, however, that the gas price thing could actually work in the X3s advantage--it might bring in a buyer who was looking for a bigger SUV and who wants the relative efficiency of a smaller, sporty X3.

What model year will the new X3 redesign be for?

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
According to epa estimates the 06X3 and 06X5 get about the same mpg.

If i recall correctly the new x3 should be a MY 2010...... In my experience with Carmax they tend to buy your car for 4K-6K less than what they sell it for........... of course that depends greatly on a number of factors.....

The x3 is decent on fuel but when the $5 gas hits I think the word "SUV" is going to scare people regardless of what its actual mileage is. At the same time it should making SUVs a relative bargain if that is indeed what you are looking for. Last I saw X5/X3 sales are down about 40% this year......

Our 07 x3 lease will be up in Nov 09.... At this point I'm leaning towards an 535xiT........ but a lot could change between now and then....

We're really happy with the SAV and, really, at this point it's a space issue, so I cannot see us going any direction but a bigger SUV. But I don't want/need a Tahoe or Denali or (God Forbid) an Escalade.

Maybe it will round out on the other side, with new sales prices coming down, but I doubt it.

Or....maybe I can convert the X3 over to Biodiesel. Anybody know where I can get a kit??

We had a Yukon before the X3 and really enjoyed it. Of course there is no comparison in the handling dept but it was a great vehicle.... Easy to get around in and the only time it went to the dealer was for a cd that got stuck.

I think bio-diesel is only for diesel engines.......... Besides.... I doubt trying to get BMW to cover an engine issue after you informed them you poured a cooking grease cocktail of fuel you made in your bathtub will go over real well.

I didn't mean to pick on the Yuukon. I just mean I'd prefer to have an SUV with some precision and some handling, and some European guts.

Whatever happened to the idea of the X7? I may be dreaming but I thought at one time there was talk of an X version bigger than the X5....

Saturn VUE comes to mind, although I don't know how much bigger it is over the X3.

I'm with you...... We enjoyed the Yukon but it was no BMW........... I'm not sure how BMW could build an X7 and make it handle like a BMW........... Besides... I wouldn't want to see the price tag on something like that....
