X3 Rear Bumper

How to take off rear bumper in X3 (2009). I want to install 2 antennas inside.

Since there hasn't been an update from 2007 to 2009, I will assume it is the same as mine.

Several small bolts facing rearwards in each wheel well. Several bolts facing upwards (3 or 4) just forward of the bumper. Pop the trim up that is right behind the hatch on the top surface, and there are bolts under there. Then slide it rearwards.

There are good instructions in the trailer hitch installation post by x3eme. I will look for a link.

Here is the BMW factory instruction. Note that it says to drill out the plastic rivets. I did not do so; you can pull the liner away and reach the last bolt on each side without removing the rivets. This is the method x3eme describes.

Have 18 year old mouthbreather in mom's new Audi drive into the back of your car at about 35 mph while you are stopped. Exit vehicle, retrieve spare tire and carrier, retrieve all plastics from middle of road, retrieve rear bumper from under car. Takes no time at all.
