More Wheel Advice
Front wheel/tire http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_sp...&text1=&text2= Rear wheel/tire http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_sp...&text1=&text2= Cool. So yeah, how does this look? Basically these are my OEM style 112's vs staggered OEM style 132's. I can't see any reason why they wouldn't work. I'm just looking for some backup and a second opinion. The rear tire diameter is 1.9 inches wider on the 132's that I'm looking to buy. That makes the tire circumference is 6" longer. Is this a big deal? Thanks,

I don't think it will work in the fronts. I was looking at some wheels that were going to be 9.6" wide (your's is 11.2") and was told that the front would rub. It was some TSW wheels. Called TSW and the company selling them. Both said they would rub. BTW, these wheels were 18x9.5 et 45.

Actually the width of the front tires would be 10". It's the rear tire that would be 11.2" (sorry I didn't make that clear). I didn't note it in my opening post, but the set up is staggered. My current front tire is 9.3" wide. Looking at that website, it says the front fenders are 100% clear. I guess it's more the rear tire that I'm worried about.

the recommended tyres for your X3 in 19" that will give you +/- the same circumference(rolling diametre)as your eoem 255/55/17's are:- FRONT:255/40/19 or 265/40/19 REAR:285/35/19 or 295/35/19(if commercially available!) Last edited by powers1; 01-27-2006 at 07:04 AM. |

Yeah, jaaX3 just be sure it'll fit. Remember those calculators are for "estimates." They do not take into account suspension components that might effect fitment. When I used that particular calculator it said the 18x9.5 would fit but it was not the case after calling to confirm.

powers and 818, thanks, I really appreciate your input.
I really like these rims, and want to make them work. So that leaves me with this question: How is the ride with 35 and 40 profile tires? I'm sure it helps with handling, but I bet it's a bumpy ride.

But I do see your tire isn't too wide (265 vs. 285 or larger).

I have no experience with 17" or 18" on the X5,but I can confirm that I found the ride on the 19" very confortable and allied to great handling. |
