Same N55 engine as X5 35i. All the official details at end of first post, after the pics.

So that's 220 photos of hoping, wait, no, praying, that it looks better in person. Then again at least it no longer looks like it's made of legos.

Nice set of pics/info, LM!
Helluva load-up, though...

No design xpert here, but it's not bad. Looks much better in
the "silver" vs the red, imo.

That black plastic strip on mid lower rear is very odd, imo.
The 3/4 rear view looks like a Sorrento from a glance.
Hey, a start/stop button! How did we get by without one
for the past 5+ decades?!
Bigger ain't better, and the price may be breathtaking...
and, agree w/JCL: they need to bring diesel here.

The M version looks Titz, esp in Blanco.

Sorrento-like look, and the tail light guys musta been on break.

Very complete set of pictures, but agree completely that the load up time makes the thread very hard to follow as comments are added. It would be better to perhaps have a discussion thread separate from the photo vault, or a reduced set of photos with a link to the complete package.

I wonder if with the explosion in the number of sub-forums here, whether we are about to get an F25 forum, or whether the E83 X3 forum will cover both models.

wait, wait, wait... was that... a... manual!!?

Would be nice if that was available here / with more oomph than a 20d.

Why not a 23d?

M-Sport looks better but the lights still suck.

It is pretty difficult to take the introductory Euro models and extrapolate what will be offered in North America when the vehicle eventually arrives here.

I would have expected to see a manual transmission 35i, at least in Europe, but sadly our options are likely to continue diminishing over time. By the time the F25 gets to North America, it may be a 23d, but I hope they keep it to four cylinders. BMW did say that four cylinder diesels are coming to North America a few months back. If you are going to promote the diesel as the fuel economy option, it only makes sense to get as much fuel economy as you can out of the model. 184 hp and similar torque as the 35i (just not at the same low revs) makes the 20d a reasonable choice IMO. A manual transmission would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it, as they hardly sell any manual transmissions here now, and the cost of certifying the additional configuration may not be worth it for BMWNA and BMW Canada.

I agree! Or, even the smaller diesel (3 something?), with 6 spd...
I think BMWNA has defaulted to the Biff&Buffy car
buying crowd.
