Question on Replacing Rear Brake Lines

Ok WHERE ARE THEY??? 02 x5 4.6

In all seriousness I bought stainless brake lines and the fronts are pretty obvious but the rears I dont see 1 continuous flow of rubber tube like the front that matches the replacements I bought.

What am I missing? The stoptech brake lines I received do not match up with anything I see under the x5. I double and triple checked the application even on stop tech website and its the right part number.

I took pics of the rear setup but most of you know it Im sure but at work and cant upload until this eve.

Getting ready to hang up the wrenches if I cant find something that should be this easy to spot. Please help can you not retrofit SS on rears? The stoptech shows specific application for 4.6 too.

EDIT: So I did more sleuthing and found that Bav Auto sells a set too and the rears have 4 vs other places ECS, StopTech etc that sell 1 per side (rear). So this is replacing that union then where metal brake line is contoured to fit in holders? These new lines will no longer sit cleanly is those OEM holders?

Thanks in advance!

Most of those arent even clips. I think a better definition is the "loom" the pipe is run through and I know based on my edit that the new SS line will not fit due to its size since the OEM has the metal line between the 2 rubber lines to fit snugly in the loom.

I was wondering if anyone tackled this job, likely not, and had a clean alternative to running the lines. Looks like one of the parts sites has some pics Ill use that if folks havent done this DIY yet on the rears.

So is it better, longevity & flexibility, to just replace the rears with OE type of steel/rubber lines, so they fit correctly?

Thats kinda what Im asking but I guess this thread either doesnt have the draw some of the other ones or no one swapped rears for SS. If thats the case at 49k Im not swapping them out. Gonna look at routing tonight again and make a decision. But Im still gonna pull calipers and swap pads and prep em though

That is how mine are. When I have a chance I will take picture. I have been observing for wear and find none. I wonder if they did the two part for either cost or because the rubber would expand more and to improve feel, they minimized it.

Thanks and I tore into this last night and found 1 impact. The loom between the 2 clips that hold the unions for the line where the metal and rubber line are joined.

I dry fit the line and it fits perfect into the clips for the union but is a bit porky to fit under the middle loom so thats where i might need the black zip tie and should be relatively a clean look since its invisible relatively speaking once wheel is back on.

Thanks to those that responded.

God, I live a protected life! Brake pipes last the life of my car. I have never replaced a brake pipe on any of my cars, ever. I replaced a braided hose once on my Jeep, but I ripped it out on a branch, and it just needed a new compression fitting.

Do people replace brake pipes because they corrode, or what?
