because the build date of your x5 is before mid 2004 your Bluetooth wont work with any phones except the one that comes with the car from factory I think
if you have the bmw assist package and if your x5 has the module in the back already which sounds like you do you can buy a Bluetooth module off ebay from a x3 or a 2005/6 x5 and its plug and play, the pairing code is on the sticker on the module first 2 mins of ignition on is pairing mode
