No need to pull fuse or deflate airbags. just use a jack to raise the hub (bearing carrier) about 1". This takes the load off the balljoint & suspension.

Same principle applies to the coil spring. Grab a jack with a block of wood on top and apply upward pressure to the spring perch (not control arm).

This is more as a preventative maintenance check. You should still get your wheels aligned, but if the technician says they cannot get them in spec, or if you get ongoing irregular wear then it's a good indication that a balljoint, or one or some of the rear suspension bushes are flogged.

On my E39 (1998 528i), I set my REAR wheels camber to minimum I could do.
It is a bit tricky but I reduced the camber from -2.2 degrees to -1.3 degrees.

The Inner tire wear issue was resolved. This was from 2011.

Good stuff CN90! Your DIY's are going to be very helpful as I replace all the wear items in my 2005 X5's rear suspension. Last step will be the alignment, so this will come in handy as will your rear suspension ball joint, etc., replacement DIY.
