Having helluva time with rear sun shade removal

Hi all,
Tryin to repair my right rear door carrier. I have exhaustively tried to get the dayum vertical triangular sun shade off and it will NOT budge. I have looked in there and the clip is FULLY DISENGAGED from it(I am lifting clip UP!), but it STILL won't come off. Did they glue a few of these things on to piss off someone?? Does anybody have any tips or tricks for me to try, other than ripping the dang thing off?!?!?!

Thanks for any help or advice!!!

Steve

There is a hex screw holding the vertical housing, it's located at the bottom end.

Hi all,
Awntchi, where, exactly, is this hex screw?? Is it below the door panel?? I am under the assumption that you must remove the vertical shade BEFORE being able to remove the door panel. If that is the case, how do I get to this hex screw if I can't remove panel??? Anyone else have a bear of a time getting their sun shade off the rear doors?? It seriously feels suctioned or glued on there!!!

FYI----I have a 2004 X5, E53 3.0i

The screw is located behind the shade. The shade itself is only held in by the pressure clip at the top.

The shades in the X5 are either easy-peasy or better off removed with a swift hammer hit .

I suggest lifting the clip and wigging the top of the shade in all directions, (tilting towards the front of the car is technically the OEM way)

Just went and had a look at mine, the screw is indeed behind the shade...the shade comes off by popping it off the clip and twist right/left. The screw holds the actual door card.

I did this job about 3 months ago in the middle of the night and in a hurry so I forgot the exact steps.

FINALLY got the dayum sun shade off. Quickly removed 4 torx screws, disconnected wiring, etc and popped plastic rivets off. Then the HELL began The large main panel clip, located right near handle in center of panel was a complete PITA to get off. I have removed driver panel before, so I knew what to expect with center clip. But this was a TOTAL JOKE! I was using HUGE force, pulling/twisting/etc. I even resorted to a breaker bar I worked in there to crow it off......STILL would not give!!! I finally got enough leverage on it to pop it off and the plastic clip part broke in pieces of course! At least I didn't damage the vapor barrier! Anyway, just wanted to report I got shade off. Used a little screwdriver to coax it off from the side of it as I held clip up Time to dive in to the door handle carrier!

Did you try lifting the panel upward and rocking to disengage the plastic center clip? Our panels are not meant to be removed straight-out.
