how to get Power Steering oil cooler out?

My oil cooler for the power steering has started to leak from the end of the cooler. This sits long ways just in front of the large radiator. I can't see how to get it out. I've searched the net and here for a "how to" but no info at all.

I have bought a replacement part to see if that helped but looks like it just sits in place.

I'm thinking it can either come out from the front which means taking out all the plastic parts behind the front grille or my worst worry is it needs to come out the engine side which looks like the radiator has to come out too.

Can anyone help please?

What year and engine do you have. Need to put that in your signature for the future.

It's a 2003 E53 with 3.0d engine - I was told by parts shop that all E53's have same power steering oil cooler so should be same process for all E53's.

The part number may be the same but the disassembly is not the same on every engine. I will check what process applies to the diesel.

it mounts to the front shroud of the radiator. you may be able to get it without taking the radiator out but removing the radiator is probably the right way.

I'd try removing the inner fan then uncliping the radiator from the front shroud and trying to tilt it back so you could leverage out the PS cooler. you may also have to try and remove the rear shroud for more room.

Good Luck!

Many thanks - I'll give it a go but does sound like a challenge - may call on my local independent if I get stuck.
I'll post my findings.
