^^Good news! My letter should be coming in shortly, as I'm the around the same production month as you (late 2003 build) -

I wonder how many of us are going for airbag replacement and the dealer is going to use it to try to get us into $3k of repairs or a new X - After my last dealership fiasco I will be probably personally watching the tech replace my airbag from start to finish.

RB, seeing that humidity is the culprit that's causing the charge instability, my guess is BMW is addressing this issue based on regional registration records. This recall might not be correcting the problem in VIN order.

Happened on my Acura. That was the exact amount $3000ish same as another person seems to be the magical number.

For my M5 i told them replace the bag and thats it. no lift, no tech inspection, and certainly no wash.

So what your saying is that they quoted you a number of other service items outside of the recall repairs done to the vehicle? Is this correct?

^Thats exactly what he is saying - to a dealer they see a 10+ year old vehicle in for recall service and all they see is dollar signs, the service dept is the real money maker at dealerships and not the sales department.

(not sure if you remember my recent thread on my dealership fiasco where they broke my door carrier and urged me that my 8 month old battery was dead and wouldn't hold a charge)

Jersey is damn humid so I expect my letter soon LOL

Finally. I haven't revieved my letter but I'm glad this is rolling out. It'll be nice not driving around with a grenade in my face.

In the other hand they added a5/s5 convertibles to the list. I'm sure my coupe isn't far behind.

Thats correct. Everything from motor mount to seals etc. Ironically saw no evidence of it when i was under the car literally the night before and again right after I brought it home.

What they also didnt know was I had the TB done within 200miles at a honda dealer and nothing was mentioned and the tech from Honda came out to tell me how nice it is to work on such a well maintained and clean car for a change.

Yeah, I bought the '05 Accord (bad weather/dog hauler, 105k miles) into Lute R Honda for airbag recall, was told the trans & brake fluid looked/smelled bad, needs changing.

Had done the fluid swaps a few weeks prior with RedLine and ATE SuperBlue products.
