Two small changes that make a lot of difference.
The BMW logo was losing some paint because of some idiot ![]() A very good replica for 6€ (I hope it lasts) And the gauges rings. Last bit is almost unnoticeable but very important for me. For unknown reasons the consumption needle was interfering with the RPM needle every time they crossed their paths (Who the hell designed this?) so I unmounted the consumption one and got rid of the "rear" side of the needle. Some tin welder work later (using a knife for the rough sides) it is now almost perfect

I had to get rid of the back side of the smallest one to let them move freely. The colliding parts circled in red It looks like an early unit design flaw. My e53 is from year 2k. Which year is yours? I have read something similar happened to other guy somewhere (may be in this very forum, cannot recall exactly). Last edited by Pueseso; 06-09-2015 at 07:52 AM. |

Someone else had the same problem. Turns out at some point someone put the wrong needle back in that spot. Looks like yours is wrong too.
This is what the consumption needle should look like.

Most of them were replaced with the silver ones. The only one I could not replace (I did not find a replacement) is the one over the business CD so I got it painted (There is a slight difference in color but u have to know to notice it.)
The replaced ones are now in the trunk waiting for... anyone who wants them?
