Strange oil leak

Hi everyone, here is an weird one. I have oil (?) or an oil like substance dripping from just behind the left rear wheel. i've peered up into the wheel well but really can't see much indication of where it is coming from. I carry a spare gallon of oil in the compartment where the CD changer would go and my first thought was that had leaked but that isn't the case.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks Puddin, there was a squeak back there so I'll have a look at the shock.

Does your car have a sunroof? Why do you say oil: color, taste, smell, etc.? Is your brake fluid level down? Do you store anything in the right side storage area (isn't the CD changer on the left)?

Solved it

Thanks for the suggestions guys and i'm totally embarrassed to say this. After puling out the spare gallon of oil and leaving it on my patio for a week I noticed it was weeping ever so slightly. There is no hole in the plastic but it obviously rubbed just enough to thin the material and oil weeps out. THAT was my strange oil leak.
