If u missed the just of my related post, I guess I'm "lucky" too cause what ever it ends up being isn't gonna cost me anything...
So after the repairs you mentioned, your Susp. was back to 100% ?? Any recurring issues since? Cause that's what keeps me up at night. |

It's only not going to cost you anything if it was the shops fault. And given how common air ride faults are in these cars, that chance is slim. But hey, you can hope.

100% there fault. This is not a case if common issues, they did an impromptu axel removal, to deal with a stiff bolt. And in the process, foaled up an otherwise prefectly fuctioning airsusp. system. The only issues are coming from the LF (the area they were working on. I've had this car less then a month, it's been through their shop 3 times, in that time period, not to mention the Dealer I bought it from, can speak for the condition of the car/system, and just how through I was in inspecting this thing before purchase. Trust me this issue was "manufactured" by this shop. We had a whole talk about the air-ride when I dropped it off. They were informed, assurances were made. It's on them.

How does the R&R of an axle mess up the suspension?
If you know it isn't one of the common failures then what is it?

Common failures usual result for physical damage. Torn/cracked airbags, corroded sensors...etc. then there's the whole left it in the lift all night and now the compressor can't supply the needed air to reload the system. Or it burnt out tryin too do so. Also air compressors are fickle in any form. I'd say half of common air ride failure is a shot comp.
What happened(IMO of course) is a mini version of the left on lift too long/without proper perpetration. And when the LF strut was dissconected from the A arm to remove the CV shaft (axel if you were) the susp. Couldn't properly compensate for the lack of "weight" or resistance, or the fact that it would be allow to extend out of its normal articulation range. And is now un-able to reconcile (calibrate) itself. |

Since my air struts were replaced in early 2012 and my suspension was calibrated I haven't had a lick of an air suspension issue. The module was replaced in 2011 by previous owner as well as a level sensor. The linkages on the arm were seized and replaced as well. I had a burned out compressor which I swapped for a low mileage unit around June 2012 as well which cured my issues.
2-axle air been working fine for over 3 years now.

^I used Arnott air struts. Honestly there's no reason you would use BMW struts unless you were stranded at the dealer. The Arnotts have a lifetime warranty
