Lurch problem 4.6iS (video)

Hi guys...

When braking to a standstill, the car's revs drop to zero and bounce back up, causing the car to briefly lurch/jerk forward. What could be causing this? (video is not the best quality sorry)

https://youtu.be/_OQn_XcboJw (00:04 - 00:05 seconds is the point where it drops and bounces up)

When braking, if I put the car in neutral when coming to a stop it doesn't do this.

It's hard to tell in the video, but I think I might be having the same issue with my '05 4.8is, only it has gotten worse.

I feel that it's more of a surge at this point. If I roll up to a light and it starts doing it, it wants to surge forward, almost like it's a manual and I've almost come to a stop in 2nd gear with my foot off the clutch and it's about to die. If I quick drop it into Neutral the kicking goes away.

Keep me posted. I'm having my shop take another look on Monday. About a month ago we thought we had it fixed, they had noticed a vacuum abnormality, replaced a torn PCV diaphragm and it didn't seem to do it anymore. But it has gradually made its way back in.

Check or replace 02 sensor

Does your car hesitates when starting?

When we plug it up the the GT1 machine, it does read an error with one of my CATS... I asked the technician whether or not it could be the O2 sensor. According to him no, but I did suspect this could be causing it. Now that you mention it I'll take it to someone else and have it checked out. I already checked for vacuum leaks and clogged everything up...

Could be something to do with one of my catalytic converters...

The shop didn't get to it on mine yesterday - I had given them quite the laundry list. Should hear more today.

I have almost the same issue, not so much lurching forward, but instead when im coming to a stop, my rpms will drop to pretty much 200 rpm and the car feels like its going to cut out and die but recovers and the rpms go back up to around 600-700.
with the A/C on, the problem is not there..
Any updates?

My O2 sensors all tested out fine, but I don't think they took them out and looked at them, they just took readings from Auto Logic.

And of course now we can't even get it to do the surging behavior, so we wait.

I get my car back today/tomorrow. Will keep you posted.

I was advised that the Lurch issue has been resolved before by fitting a new valve body (expensive!!). Makes sense if you think about... but obviously this is the last/worst case scenario.

Have you tried the software update to your transmission? I think that's going to be our next step. I've seen some people say that even though they had been updated to the newest version, sometimes re-flashing it with the full, final version has solved issues that they still had after incremental updates.

I would like to avoid replacing the valve body...but it sure does make sense.
