Anyone who doesn't agree with trader he calls a buffoon (this is the correct spelling btw), or refers to "strawman" or "witch hunt" or tells you to grow up, or inferences that this forum is referred of "fanboys" who "hold BMW up to be a god", etc, I can go on. And in 90% of his 900 posts to this point he refers in some way to the "crap window regulators" which no one can forget that he has had to deal with.

Question is, if he isn't contributing positively to this forum, why do we want him to remain here? If I wanted to join a BMW bashing forum I'd join Consumer Reports, we actually like our vehicles here, and like to plan preventative maintenance schedules, and keep our vehicles and not just come on here to complain.

Maybe his Ashley Madison account got leaked and he is grumpy about it and needs to vent?

You're going to get the full wrath from trader4 RB.

trader4 has shown me the error of my ways. Even though I have seen below average failures, I now realize that because others have regular failures, my X is a POS.

I'm looking to pick up a Honda CRV, when I get it, I'll send this HORRIBLE BMW to the auto dismantlers to be crushed.

All is right in the universe!

Chill out guys, this is nothing to sweat over.

Haha usually it is just the content of a post that is annoying. He manages to be annoying in both content and format.

Meanwhile the OP has added antifreeze to his X5 and is sitting at his computer wondering what the hell did I start with my question.

Parts break, to some more than others. Next posting! My expansion tank is still happy at 10 years. I worry more about plastics that are not UV or ozone proof. Then I am one of those types like many of us, who washes and sprays protectorates on my CV boots to extend their lives from parking turns, changes the oil annually and all the filters, etc........

Personal failure or reliability of any part anyone or everyone posts here is never basis for any conclusion about that part. It's just not logical. That is especially true if your personal experience has been reliability and you call that part crap.

An accumulation of the same point of view about a part can be an indication of the reliability of a part. However, there is infinite variation in the lives of E53s, we are a minute sampling, there is a wide variation in how we individually think a part should last, many of us didn't buy or X5s new to have personally been part of its history, most of us don't know each other so we have no idea of the worth of opinions or experience--we don't usually even know if others even own an E53. I am not saying the forum is not worthwhile, it is great! I have learned a lot. I'm here to try to help others solve problems and hear from others that are pleased to own and enjoy their X5s. Why are you here Trader4?

I think that's the issue... the parts aren't "crap." They have a serviceable life like any other part. In this case... most of the cooling system components have about a 100,000 - 120,000 mile life span in the majority of cases (at least here in south Texas) in my experience. Almost all of the cooling system parts are cheap... so if you have to do a complete cooling system overhaul every 120,000 (6 years or more) miles you are looking at spending $2000 total at a shop, or $500 in parts for a DIY'er. You can get much more mileage out of the parts individually if desired and it will be much cheaper... which is what most people do. I prefer to do system overhauls usually at certain mileages.

^Some may think that is excessive... and some may not. I am in the latter. Some have early failures... some have never had a failure. One (or two, three, four, or a hundred) particular failure reports on forums does not indicate a part's reliability in terms of the overall number of units out there. I am constantly amazed at how many E53's I see running around... so they can't be all that unreliable and full of junky parts. They can't all be owned by enthusiasts or rich people who can do/pay for the work and parts that are "constantly" failing.

I think that's why you see the hostility Trader. It's not that we are fan boys or anything, but that there is no REAL reason to call the parts crap. It sucks you've experienced a ton of failures... but had you bought a different X5 it's possible you would have had no failures. Just a thought.

No, I call people buffoons when they accuse me of posting something
years ago, that I had nothing to do with, that allegedly identified me
as some youngster. That's likely part of the problem, some can't
keep people separated, and start jumbling stuff from years ago
all together. The other obvious problem here is that some of you
BMW fanatics consider it "bashing" because I once in a while I
call their crap window regulators or expansion tanks, or maybe
CV boots, crap.

And as usual, now the calls to censor and silence me start.
How typical. Here's a novel idea. All I did was call that expansion
tank "crap". And that was after another poster, with shop experience,
echoed what I had said about them failing prematurely in response
to a question that someone else posted. All you fanatics had to do
was let that go. BTW, I'm not here calling for you to be silenced.
And contrary to what you just posted, it's not all that I do, I'm
a regular poster here whether you like it or not and it's only
occasionally that I have something negative to say about parts.
Funny thing too, isn't it? I don't see you calling for censorship for
people that say Chinese parts are crap, aftermarket parts are crap,
but Woooh!, if anyone dares to say that one part that BMW uses
is crap, well then you just can't take that. Grow up.
Still running your mouth about me after I apologize ....

Your no man.

I made a mistake (like you do every time you post), was called out, I then apoligise like a man should do. Your bitch ass can't even acept an apoligy.....

You are now a pathedic excuse of life in my world. GL to the people surrounded by you.

Edit: and since the trader can't quote correctly, it looks like I've quoted. RB. Sorry RB. This quote was written by the trader.
