I just thought I would chime in.
They are talking about face lifted X5, you have a preface lifted X5.

Ahhh...I started on the driver's side...and even after loosening the bolts that holds the rack that secures the expansion tank to gain better access...it was still a struggle trying to blindly find those 2 bottom torx screws. That's when I threw in the towel and found TwinsPoppa's DIY.

Okay, I am struggling to find this for some reason, is it not in the tips and tricks section?

P.S. - Didn't initially realize that when HAL flags the low beam as being out, he automatically turns on the fog lights...

Here's one front bumper removal DIY with downloadable PDF that was #5 in the How Tos - X5 tips and tricks:
Here's another one found typing "Twinspoppa bumper removal" into a google search box:
Both DIYs are for FACELIFT e53 X5s (2004-2006)

I finally got around to changing the bulbs this weekend. Some of you guys had me all worried that I was going to spend half the day pulling the front bumper off to change the HID capsule, so with it getting dark early, I had to put it off till the weekend.

In the end I didn't have to remove the headlamp from the vehicle. I just pulled the airbox on the drivers side for room. Took less than 30 minutes to do both sides.

The one torx is definitely NOT conveniently located, but with a 1/4 ratchet, extension, and universal I was able to access it without taking anything else apart. I just had to feel around for it at first..

Anyway, new bulbs are in, thanks for the links and advice all, Much Appreciated!
