iv heard that bosch might not work with the spacers..
You have to play with the sensors a bit then or upgrade DME to Euro 2 Tune (do this before you Shark it)On my old car I used to play with spark non-foulers drilled out and 90 degree spacers. You may need either additional spacer on the rear or a small one on the front, its not the o2 sensors fault its just you are dealing with sensitive parameters so the rear o2 is seen as "cleaner" by the ECU, but if its too clean (i.e. spaced out too far) it will throw a different code which says "out of range" or something similar.

I had this issue with a high flow downpipe on my Stage 2 turbo GLI when I had it, because I needed to pass emissions and my normal flash coded out the P0420 so you could run a test pipe. It took a combination of o2 spacers on the rear sensor in order to get the CEL to go away.

Got my headers installed last month. Sound is beautiful. I get a couple of turns up here in Minot, ND as people don't expect my car to sound the way it does haha.

Just a snap of them after I got them ceramic coated. Dude did a good job. Hopefully I can get a sound clip or video if it ever gets warm enough.

i wanted to heat wrap or coat mine but was to eager to get them on.

i need to pass emissions at the end of this year. so i will be putting my cats on when that gets near.
maybe ill sandblast or clean the headers then and coat them while they are off

What headers are those? Where they modified to fit the mid pipe? I'd love to find some that don't require any modification.

They are e46 headers. A 1 inch extension was added during installation to meet the mid-pipe.

Listing P codes does nothing for troubleshooting for me, I only know P0420 because that is what I dealt with on my VW's. That is the only code I had which was solved with a combination of o2 spacers. The other ones I have no clue.

Just flash the DME to Euro 2 to delete the CEL.

Alright thanks. Well for now if anyone interested
I have headers and currently have po420 and a p0430 which are caused by not having the spacers right.

I will mess with them hopefully today because tomarow I'm going on a 700+ mile trip and its first long drive I'm going to do with headers and ssk. Which will include lots of mountain and backroad driving and snow for the first time in my x5.

Bump. Has anyone who has installed these been able to pass readiness with either spacers or the euro tune?

I want to know as well. I think I have a failing cat. I am not opposed to running a cat, but I would flange one up to the end of the header. Headers plus aftermarket shorty cats are still cheaper than OEM.
