Well I'm not worried about connecting rods or carbon blow-by contamination in my transmission, and I am actually following BMW's prescribed servicing cycle on it

. I figure by the time it actually does require another transmission (and I'll go with a remanufactured unit), I'll still be money & time ahead by not having done periodic fluid and filter replacements.
The highest mileage on the GM 5L40-E I've noticed on this forum was 308,000 miles when it was replaced. As I recall, the owner had performed only one fluid change. I plan on keeping my E53 for two more years which will put it at 350,000 miles - we'll see what happens.
