Well it can not be done on our X5 by LCM programming but it can be done with modLight2. Got mine installed and programmed. Pretty cool little iBus hack.

I do not think it can be done on the LCM on the E53 X5. I did however find a iBus module that looks like it will be fun to play with. Modlight2. A simple 3 wire connection in the rear by the cd changer area or anywhere you can pull 12V, GND and iBus. Modlight2 does offer 3 4 and 5 blink one touch turn signals along with a long list of features to play with. I ordered it and will report back.

GND is Ground

Manufacturer claims it works on ALL X5.

5 series-E39 (all features),
7 series-E38 (all features),
X5 (E53) (all features except automatic unlock on turning off motor and automatic folding/expanding wing mirrors)..

All E53s have IBUS and CANBUS.
Almost all BMWs produced between 1996 and 2012 have IBUS.
All BMWs produced after 09.1998 do have CANBUS.

Overboost, those modLight2 hacks are wicked cool! Any chance you have a thread for the coding you could link for us? Thanks!

How can I help Chris? The ModLight2 is out of Europe and the coding is all done on the module itself by button sequences, no computer needed. Is this what you are asking?

I have been playing with mine doing crazy keyfob activations, cornering lights and triple blinks.

Got it! Found the Modlight site. Way more straight forward than trying to use PA Soft BMW Decoder 1.4! LOL

Speaking of...

I have a really odd, or at least I think it is an odd issue. I'm running a Windows 7 64bit laptop. I downloaded the Demo version of the BMW Decoder1.4 application first, and it connected to my cable and communicated with my 2006 X54.4i with no trouble. But it doesn't do much but listen to the car and run a module error check. I can't clear any errors or code anything. So I searched for a copy of the full version and I found a link on an E46fanatics thread for a CD image of the full application. Burned the CD, installed the executable and am completely stymied.

When I opened the shortcut I keep getting the same message, "Cable Drivers installed" "Cable not connected". It is in fact connected to the car and ignition is on. I've tried every procedure for installing and reinstalling drivers for the cable I can find, and nothing is working.

Here is the cable that I have...

VAG-COM VCDS Cable USB Scanner Tool OBD 2 FTDI 409.1 VW Audi Ross Tech INPA BMW | eBay

I can get to the settings window in the Demo version and i can select the cable, port, and configuration, and even if i make changes it still works?? In the full version I can't get past the pop-up window, there is a link to a folder of drivers, but I can't use them on my 64bit OS, and an exit button.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is. Any and all help, advise, berating is welcome.

Are you talking about PA Soft 1.4? The cable you show is not the same as the one I have. I have separate cables for PA Soft 1.4 and INPA. The one you linked says it's for INPA and I know they are not compatible with PA Soft 1.4. Here is a link to the right cable for PA Soft 1.4.

https://www.amazon.com/Scan-Tool-Dia...ds=pa+soft+1.4

You will also need the FTDI USB drivers using any operating system other than XP. These drivers work fine on 64 bit computers all the way through Windows 10.

Thanks for the info. I may just punt on this and try another cable and pick up the one that you recommended. I just found it strange that it works great with the DEMO version of the PA Soft 1.4 software, but doesn't work with the full version. I assumed that they were the same application with just some features deactivated, but it must be a completely different build of the software with different cable requirements.

Thanks again!
